I'm only around lvl 80-90 with both afflictions but find they work on any mob with varying degees of success.

affliction has currently took a back seat for diggin/melee for a while so when I get a little higher I will report back.

what I have noticed tho and I'm not sure whether its to do with our last few weeks of discussions is that affliction is now back in fashion, there seems to be a stunner in every team I walk past :)

Good to know. Will try blind and stun with concentrate. I already forgot concentrate.
Was useless with stingas and only helpful with spells (acid) the mob can disrupt. Never recogniced a higher chance of hitting...

Excellent guilde :)
And to my knowledge I would just add that when you begin reach really high levels (190+ like me) and CAN finally use Root efficiently which is a great spell, somehow it decrease monster "avoidings of hits" and also protects the group very well. But trully at low levels the spell is almost impossible to work well.

I was bored the other night and found you can even solo offensive affliction. This works best on goaris and cloppers I found, other mobs take too long to die. Make sure you have plenty of hp tho (I had 2k at the time). Stand still and whack one with madness and watch him beat himself to death :)
Reminded me of Matisan Guards killing themselves after they get all aggro'd up.

Interesting finding about dbl spell plan (off+aff)

I was hunting using this plan as I find that the rate elem goes up when hunting is just way too fast.

Using poison + madness on great jugs in a team of 3 (tank+healer+me)

For a while although the game reported I was get aff XP the bar on progression didn't rise. I was a bit annoyed had gained aprox 30k XP towards the skill and the bar hadn't moved (I was level 61.7 and yes as I have said it reported I was gaining XP).

So I switched to just madness, this slowed the hunt speed but the progression bar did move and I eventually got lvl 62 Yay Me! \o/

I then switch back to using the dbl plan. I found that if I 'slow casted' eg:

Spell Success:

caster spell
spell moves in to cast mode
lands (does elem damage [mabe], aff creates link)
Wait till the link breaks
caster spell
etc...

I gained XP in both :D

Spell Success, no link:

caster spell
spell moves in to cast mode
lands (does elem damage [mabe], aff reports success but no link)
caster spell

I gained XP in both :D

Spell Failed:

caster spell
spell moves in to cast mode
lands (does elem damage [mabe], aff resisted)
caster spell

I gained XP in elem only :P

So my findings were that if you fast/repeat cast this spell plan it tells you you get XP, but you don't. If you slow cast the spell cast, wait, cast you get XP and it progesses you level.

Anyone else found this or am I one of the few that use this plan?

nope, its based on successess and useage.

3 x elem hits
3 x madness hits

= 1500xp to both skills

1 x elem hit
2 x madness hit

= ele 1000xp
+ aff 2000xp

0 x elem hit
1 x madness

= 3000xp aff

etc

I notice no increase in chance to hit when adding concentrate on to my afflictions. Has anyone verified that really works?? I do love the added graphic effects though, hehe. I keep concentrate on fear for that, well, and because usually I use it to get attacking aggro off me ;)

On a general note, my defensive affliction started out rather weak, from lvl 50-100 I had a hard time linking on anything except under lvl 50 mobs, and that's useless obviously for leveling. However, once I got up over 100 its effectiveness greatly increased in 100-150 regions to the point of pretty much being a reliable hit everytime. I'm hoping the trend continues and when I get to 155 I'll be able to link with any mob up to 200 reliably.

There also seem to be certain types of mobs that are particularly vulnerable to different afflictions. For example, I seem to stun well on zerx and jugula even in 250 zones, but ocyx are extra resistant.
