If this is the case then they should either be removed, the npc next to them removed, or the NPC should say something to let us know they aren't working and that is the way it is suppose to be.

I am trying to revisit all the altars I know that don't work... As you can see by this listing I am gathering, there is no consistancy that can be explained as game play related.

Inactive? None of them work as intented. They are saposed to let you use them after your down to tp and have no death penalty. You can use them when your down but you still get the penalty.

Is that part of the story line too?
Maby they closed this do to some part of the story they havn't written yet because its in the wisdom cube you cant get yet because the area its in isn't open yet because the homins arent developed enough to go there yet because the wisdom cube to go there hasnt been found yet because its a final mission thats in an area with a none working tp. :)

Or maybe they changed their minds after that very early descision (and didn't change the manual) because it would mean rich people got no dp? Pretty simple conclusion imo.

The nearest working TP to void is in Haven of Purity, there is not a working one in void as far as I know. Haven of Purity is an ugly ugly place loaded with kitin and dogs. Taking the TP to HoP is a good way to get stuck on a cliff and then later deathport to void when you decided to do something stuid like teleport almost to the middle of haven of purity and decide to walk out. :)

Only half thought out reason I can come out with is balancing between the races for hunting and digging.

Lets look at matis - risky to get to 200 zones (Hidden source is desert xp so ignore that) Heretics hovel does not work but Bog does. The 250 zone tps work.
Lets look at Zorai - easy to get to 200 zones from cities and the 250 zone tps dont work.
Lets look at Fyros - Citys are both in 200 zones and the 250 zone tps dont work.

Tryker I really cant say as I haven't been into Fount and Enchanted Isle but all that water does add a certain level of safety so I would expect those TPs to be not working.

Roots All working that i've found except the nexus. However since nexus is forest and not pr experience I can see why.

Its only a theory so plz dont flame :P
