Thank you for the answers!

I think the sword is more than window dressing, I remember E3 booth shots where they had models carrying it or something.

"I'd also just like to add that since the game has launched the only thing we really have learned is that the Kitin like to invade. Then agian we already knew that."

That's somewhat disheartening to read :/ The back story on the website is very detailed I don't see why that can't transfer it in-game.

Also thank you for that last link! Takashi's recaps are excellent reads and from that it really looks like the players are shaping the story. The invasion event itself sounded great, wish I was here for that.

According to Takashi anyone can intrepret the lore anyway they please, even if there is evidence that proves otherwise. So even though the lore says that the Karavan are responcible, even though that is how the event turned out, it does not mean the Karavan are responcible.

One thing I have learned from MMO's... The lore and story on the website is never used in game. Don't ask me why, but that is the case.

The Ryzom is an semi-intelligent interstellar weed that sends out shoots through spatial wormholes, manifesting itself in our universe as plant-like planets. The Kami are Ryzom symbiotes (parasites?) that have taken advantage of this rapidly-spreading nuisance for their own gain. The Karavan race has been trying to stop the Ryzom infestation for millenia, their latest tactic being a disease that affects the Ryzom's sap, causing Ryzom development to slow to a virtual standstill.
From taking every third word from the box, passing it through Babelfish from English to French, French to German, and then back to English again.

Wow, you just answered a ton of questions and pretty much blew open many of the games secrets. Good Job!!

What we now know:

-We now what Ryzom is.
-We now know what the Kami are.
-We still are unsure who the Karavan are, but their purpose is now clear.
-We now know what the goo is, who created it, why they created it, and why the Kami are so against it.
-We also can assume that us homins put a complication into the Karavans plans in fighting the Ryzom.
-We now understand why the Karavan were so stuck on not letting the Zorai tend to fighting it.

New questions:
Who are the Karavan and where did they come from?
How did they first get introduced to the Ryzom?
Why is it so important to stop the Ryzom?
How many other places have Ryzom and can we get to them?
Are all ryzom the same?
Where did the Kami orignally come from?
How are they using the Ryzom for gain?
How did homins get on the Ryzom?
What exactly is the great dragon and how does it fit in with this new information?

Reasonable explainations:
In RL bugs are very important to the survival of plants. Since Ryzom is a big weed it's very possible that the Kitin are suppose to be wherever the Ryzom is. They probably have some purpose that is important to the survival of Ryzom.

I'm sure there are more but that's all that came to mind right off the bat.

raynes, in the recap takashi says explicitly that those unaffected by the goo told the arriving kami forces that the others of their tribes had been infected by the karavan
i don't see how there is much to misinterpret <_<
well, except for the case that the cute and/or gibbai were lying

You mean the part where the Kami claimed the Karavan were responsible for the infested gibbais? "...it was only the forces of the Kami that made it to the end. What they told the faithful was shocking news that the Karavan was in fact responsible for the infestation of these poor creatures." The Kami do not represent an objective source. In the next event the Karavan claim that the Kami were responsible.

The Karavan lore says that they "Protect and conserve the planet against the Goo." See The Flanagan Files

Wow that does answer a lot of questions. Is that on the UK release box? It's certainly not on mine...

I'm thinking the same thing you are raynes about the Kitin being a vital aspect of the planet's ecosystem. They keep hinting at a "twist" regarding the Kitin's origins and I think this is it.

I wonder how long the gestation period is for the weed to turn into a full sized planet - kind of hints at how old the Karavan are.

The Kami may be simply harvesting the sap or hoarding it. Being symbiotes they may even depend on it just to stay alive. I wonder what threat the Karavan sees from this though. There's probably a whole other war going on in space that we're unaware of.

Thank you amcyr!
