I honestly can't think of a BETTER example of exploiting AND scamming in one situation in all my years of online gaming than this one. If THIS isn't grounds for banning, then I just can't immagine anything that ANYONE could do that WOULD get them banned.
zumwalt wrote:Aye Ronin, I agree with you, thats theft, no matter how you look at it, first stealing a guilds name do to a bug, then trying to petition for the hall and assets.

That just wrong.

In one aspect, you could think of it as trying to abuse an exploit, or it could fall under the rules in the EULA for exploit abuse, I mearn seriously, abusing a bug that causes problems of this magnitude to try to further his own greed.

Basic, you have been sadly and thoroughly misinformed, so I'll give you the whole loooonnnnggggg way-too-much-drama backstory.

A few weeks back, when Goldenhammer (GH) was our guild Leader, he led an incredibly botched trek to Thesos, back when the kami TP was off in the Springs. Much DP and frustration was accumulated by all. This was a notable incident but not an isolated one, it was emblematic of the serious lack of leadership the guild had been suffering from for some time, in my opinion & in the opinion of other guildies.

At that point, I called a Light of Ma-Duk officer meeting to revisit a suggestion GH himself had presented about a week before: namely, that we rotate Guild leadership in 2-week shifts among the High Officers and himself. Genesisclimber (GC) was offline at the time, so the meeting consisted of myself, Morgaine, and GH. I tabled the suggestion that we put his rotation plan into effect ASAP if not immediately, and nominated Morgaine as first in rotation.

After a long and winding discussion, GH basically didn't want to rotate the leadership at all, despite the fact it was his idea in the first place. I had a big problem with that, and said as much. Suddenly and without further discussion, in an apparent childish fit of pique, GH transferred guild leadership to me and left the meeting (physically departed - we held it in our guild council chambers). Since I had nominated Morgaine for guild leader because I believed she was best suited for the position, it took me all of 30 seconds to make my one command decision, and transferred guild leadership to her. A few seconds after that, in timing that might have been coincidental, GH left the guild entirely.

He did not ask us if we would tend his beloved guild well, before departing to tears and strewn rose petals. Rather, he walked away in mid-discussion, without a further word. He abandoned the guild, flat and simple.

Fast forward about 2 weeks: The guild is doing fine under Morg's leadership, and everyone has been friendly with GH despite the way he left the guild. Suddenly, we log in to find ourselves unguilded, and our guild hall and contents inaccessible. We scramble to keep the guild together, because <<<<a guild is not a name, it is not some mumbled slogan - a guild is the collective spirit of like-minded people working towards a common goal, the whole greater than the sum of its parts.>>>> If the GMs could have restored LoM intact that day, we would have jumped at the chance - they could not, and it was unclear if they ever could.

And so we reformed the guild, with the same members (as soon as we could find them to invite) and the same leadership structure (as closely as membership limits allowed). We did not choose to reform under the name Light of MaDuk, because you know what? That did not represent the ideals or vision of the guild as it stood now, after the original leader (Heart) and then GH walked away from it. We chose Order of the Dragon, in keeping with our largely-Fyros heritage, and dumped the incredibly lame pink flame for a snazzy new guild shield. *This was our prerogative, given that the original name/icon of the guild was <<<not>>> killed by our wishes or doing*.

GH learned of these events, and took it upon himself to start another Light of MaDuk guild (this was, in fact, after Order of the Dragon was formed). That in itself bothered me to a degree, since I assumed that would make it very difficult to recover the contents of our guild hall, due to a database-overwrite or some such - and beyond that, it added much unfortunate confusion to an already hectic situation. That all changed when I discovered, much to my amazement and disgust, that he was trying to convince the GM’s to restore all former LoM assets to him. When I tried to discuss this with him rationally over a /tell chat, he uttered the following deranged cliché‘, given that it was he who walked away from the guild in the first place: “you made your bed, now sleep in it.”

Since then, the GM’s have declined our petition to be compensated for our guild losses, unless we jumped through some ridiculous hoops and reformed once again under Light of MaDuk. We’re not going to do that, we will *not* subject our guildies to more turmoil of that nature. We will raise the guild hall fees on our own, and thanks in large part to Enfinity’s efforts we are well over half way there.

We are the Order of the Dragon, and we are here to stay.

Hi Keoni!

Nice to see another one of us on these boards. Well said, you put it in alot better perspective than I did.....

I wonder if this is Nevrax's new ploy...... You want content , you tired of the grind, you resting on your laurels........ OOOOPS!! server glitch <snicker> you've lost it all and we won't compensate you, better go earn it all back again and pay us that monthly fee......

I guess this is how they keep us busy..... instead of everyone wanting them to fix all the teeny tiny little bugs, how about all of us here on the message boards in unison ask them to fix the catastrophic server failure bugs causing entire guilds to be wiped out, maybe next time they'll wipe everyone's packers out or apartments or maybe your back pack inventory....

Or maybe it will take the loss ppl's characters conviently wiped out from their database, before anyone besides those affected that choose to say something.I say enough already......

I don't think this is a ploy by Nevrax. Our guild Gladius Jenae disappeared before the patch that caused other guilds to disappear. We informed them immediately and our guild was restored just before the patch when our guild was lost again. Now they are in the process of fixing our guild again and getting us back our guild hall. If it was a ploy, why bother fixing us and then removing our guild again. However, I wonder if there is a common element in the disappearing guilds. We switch leadership and high officer positions often to help guild hall access and it sounds like other guilds that have disappeared had recently switched leadership positions too.

Also, I've told Takashi that if my actions or the actions of our guild are causing problems or interfering with some sort of higher plan to tell me and we would stop so I doubt that would be motivation for some sneaky plot to remove our guild.

Ivarion - sorry to hear 'bout your guild, I hope they're able to get it restored smoothly and quickly. As for Grey's assertion it may be a clever Navraxx ploy, I think he just forgot to include the [sarcasm] [/sarcasm] tags... :)
