Don't forget ranged!!!
J/K Tetra. Pretty much along my lines of thought.
You'll notice how the government, corporations, etc. will give you snippets of information to keep you interested when things are going good, and will only answer issues that people refer to when things are going bad...or at least try to divert you to other good things you are missing.
It's not a bad way to do things. It makes total sense from the side of the consumer as well. There's unexpected nicities in good times, and in bad times we seek specifics and comfort that measures are being taken to fix them.
Not that anyone needs to talk to Nevrax. They're originality stunted their business model. So much time was invested in unique technology, that other things that people naturally want in games were ignored for to long. Not to bad, except I now have to pay top dollar compaired to MMO's out there. This begs the question: Was pre-mature release meant to be an instant cash reciept salvaging some investment money before the project crashed?

Its truely universal, atleast now its confirmed on another server, the devs just don't speak.
Oh well, I can't blame them, if I was in there shoes, I wouldn't either.
On a different note
Lay off Cerest, she does what she can.
If you have a problem with that, you know where you can find me.
The Root of the problem is truly confirmed here. The problem is that the team directly responsible for what we are commenting on are not even paying attention at all to our comments. What I don't understand is why is Nevrax not paying attention to us? Or if they are, why do they not fill us in that they are?
I work on the business side of a development company, and I must say that the feedback from the user community is the most important thing you can have. You do everything in the world in a normal environment to cultivate these relationships. Over 50% of your ideas are garnered from these relationships in most cases.
And for my final profound question, why are they not communicating and supporting their outsourced support organizations better?

People are already quitting in numbers - lets see how their business strategy will hold in 3 months or so.
I feel for Cerest, Fadin and the others - they are picking up heat designated for french devision.

There's a difference between constructive criticism, and just pure whining. I can't for the life of me figure out what the purpose this thread is. Especially when you, Raynes, already have another thread a few spot below addressing the exact same issue.
In which Cerest gives you the straight reason why there's a difference and moderation style. But this doesn't satisfy you, you want to prove that Cerest is LAZY, and a LIAR to boot.
This thread really pisses me off.

Well said...
Raynes, if you feel that this game is that bad, please, do us all a favor and cancel your subscription. Is there one thing that you actually like about the game? Have you posted anything positive? If you did, all your negativity has definetly washed out anything good you may, or may not, have said.
I'm curious... why are you still here if it is nothing but a thorn in your side? Do you enjoy being that miserable? You made the same reputation in EnB for yourself as you are apparently trying to here. What gives?

What gives is that I've grown tired of the lack of content, the bugs, the lack of story, the lack of direction, and just a lack of everything. The encylopedia was what really pushed me over the edge, especially this last patch. The patch consisted of a few bug fixes including the amber fix. I figured that once the fix went it it would allow me to finish the other entires that had appeared, it didn't, in fact it did nothing.
This game was suppose to be about a story. The story was suppose to be central to game play and the players were suppose to chart their own story on each server. It is now 5 months into the game and none of that has happened. Very basic story elements like missions and NPC's you can talk to are completly absent in the game.
You ask why am I still here? Well I wanted to get my hands on the encylopedia content. It was bugged in Jan, so I waited for the fix. My subscription ends the 29th of each month. As the fix wasn't put in the game until after my subscription date, I didn't cancel. Now since I have seen what they have done, to the delight of many, I will probably not renew at the end of the month. (unless something drastic changes)
This game has great possibilites unfortuanitly it will never reach those as it ends up driving long time players away with a bad taste in their mouth.
My apoligies to Cerest as my frustration and anger over the state of the game came out against you and it shouldn't have.

Hey Raynes,
We are in a LOVE/HATE relationship with the game. We want it to be good, we see how it can be good, we love the idea behind it, we can feel it on the verge of being the yummy goodness that it can be ... and yet, it just isn't there. If only this, if only that.
I hate to say it, but I am going to say it anyway.
"Just a little more time ..."
Because of my job schedule, I have cut down in my SoR time, and, frankly, afterwards, the frustrations with missing contents/bugs/people whining all the time, they just sorta went poofy. I'll be happy just to be able to sit down for a few hours to get in some digging time.
I had a blast at that last invasion event, but my fun was ruin quite a few time by people who complains that it stinks, that this or that is stupid, etc. It took quite an effort for me to ignore some of them, and a few others with me to get some those that weren't too far gone to participate in the enjoyable aspect of the last invasion event. All in all, we agreed that it was a blast.
I just found it much easier to deal with situation (any situations) in a positive rather than a negative approach. I find it much easier to get results, in all things, using praises/encouragements/laughters rather than shouting/anger/reprimands.
Sorry for the preaching, but I am a Priest after all, and I have the title to prove it.

I have thought about giving the game more time, but I just don't see how a little more time is going to improve anything. In the MMhell interview Dan Miller explained what the encylopedia is and how it should work. This is what he said:
"Daniel Miller: The encyclopedia is composed of a number of albums, each of which contains a number of articles. The articles reveal knowledge, legends, and the history of Atys, secrets of the past previously kept by the Knowledge Keepers, and now accessible to players who take on the challenges of the ritual missions. Players can also obtain new original stanzas by completing the ritual missions, and by collecting all the articles in an album, a player will gain a special title and access to special missions."
That is what I am waiting for. Well after seeing how they are going about implementing the encylopedia I am left to ask how long is it going to take to make the a full album available to players? How long is it going to be before those special missions are going to be available. As it is now they have a handful of entires available for players to complete and a bunch that can't be completed. There are four more being tested and will be applied to the live server soon. At that rate it will be at least 6 months to a year more before everything is implemented as listed above.
What makes all of this even more frustrating is that they had more rites available on the test server was back in December. I can think of one off the top of my head where you had to deliver stuff for the Shadow Runners. There was another one where you had to escort a npc from the near the Shadow Runners camp to a Kami in order to calm the Kami because they were angry at the Shadow Runners. They took them off of the test server and have yet to put them back.
Even more frustating is how in that interview he states that the development team is hard at work on issue 3 and getting outposts working. Granted everyone wants outposts, but they shouldn't be hard at work on them until they get the stuff in issue two working. They should be applying all of their development staff on getting the encylopedia implemented and 100% working all the way through. They don't have to make all albums and entries working, but they should at least have one full album working. We should be able to complete one, get a title and at least one special mission.
If that becomes possible or even if the majority of rite missions for the entries that are already listed in our encylopedias become active before the end of Feb I will probably stay. But I'm not waiting 2 or 3 more months for something that was suppose to be in our hands on the 6th of Jan. And I'm really not interested in staying just because a bunch of inactive stuff in game will eventually become active.

some of those are currently implemented(can't say if all, but i know which you mean) and in test on the ats, especially one german SGU has made certain to test all of those personally and report any errors and some of those were already fixed with the last ats patch
btw,(just in case) if you are having problems with greyed out rites, they are definitely fame-related, the tryker intendant rites for example have requirements of about 50+ fame

Some are implemented, but the majority are not as listed in this thread:
http://ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11155. How long is it going to take to make all of them available for players to complete? Two, four, six months? Even with all of them available to complete not one album is opened. I undertstand they are complex, but the mission system is that complex then they need a more automated system, something better than tasks, but not so complex each one takes a person to design it.
