jfoxp, right on.
This is one of the reason I am playing Ryzom instead of WoW or EQ2. I'll bet WoW and EQ2's mechanics kicked 7 kind of craps out of SoR's mechanic, but I like the backdrop of SoR so much more.

If you read my entire post you would know it's not about the lack of info on the ATS boards, it's about the lack of info to the NA players in general. This includes the NA ATS. Forget the ATS, look at the EU english boards and compare them to the informtion provided here, they are much more informed and on a much more timely basis. There is something wrong when people are learning about their winning the contest from a link I post, rather than an official thread about it.
And jfoxp I do agree that this game has a much better story aspect than most. It's just as of late the official stuff on the NA boards has been lacking.

Umm...what story? I get a bit of story when they choose to write something down. I don't see us influencing it either. If you look at the chat logs you'd see the last event that everyone ran to slaughter guards while Tetra took the choice mob. Brithlem got the last hit on it. Our group did the most damage and we got the 'no xp' message. where are the heroes? Nevrax (for any server) isn't looking at logs and such. It's pretty easy btw to trace one mob's log and see who did what for this. The last link doesn't even have a rightup. it goes to a stupid forum.
BTW yes I agree with Raynes. It's not up to debate. just look at the forums.

Oh, no, I don't disagree with the lack of communication aspect.
Imagine what it was like for me to come here after dealing with BioWare for roughly 3 years. They communicate very openly with their community. They don't even get censored by PR reps, like some companies due to try and control their image. Put simply, they tell it like it is when they have to, and there's no PR rep standing behind them, tapping their shoulders.
So, yeah, I've come straight from open communication with the people actually programming the game, to yet another game where there's a representative between us and the team. Normally, I'd hate that, but at least with Ryzom, the community staff in the game are quick, responsive, and quite friendly.
None of this is meant as a slight against any specific moderator here. Not by any means. We just want the level of communication the European communities get.
Now, I've noticed that Ryzom sales fell off to the point that most stores marked the boxes down to $20 around me, and aren't ordering anymore. But, I hate to say it, it's kind of to be expected with WoW around. Especially considering advertising. I found out about Saga of Ryzom by accident. I'd have to have been living under a rock to NOT hear about WoW, by contrast.
If it could be afforded, I think an advertisement push in the US might help the NA server a bit, but it's a gamble with the current competition.

I don't want to make excuses, but I'm going to try to shed a little light on the differences between the Euro forums and the NA forums. First of all, there is a 6 hour time difference between Paris and the East Coast. This means that while at 8 a.m. Paris time the information is getting distributed, I'm still in bed

, and I won't get it for another 8 hours. So it ends up looking like the information has been on the other forums for hours, which it has, but there's nothing short of changing the time zones that I can do to help that at the moment.
There's also the problem of my schedule to take into account. I don't work Monday through Friday like most people, my schedule changes often, sometimes unexpectedly, and unfortunately there's nothing I can do to anticipate problems or events that information needs to be communicated on.
Now, I have no control over the ATS or it's forums so I can't speak about the patch notes. But my guess would be that the time difference had something to do with the delay.
We'll try to make sure the NA community gets info as timely as possible in the future. Thanks for your understanding.

How does one make a chicken?? lol
I do have one question that does not pertain to chickens... if a person wins a prize during the contest, are they sent an email? Does it go to the email address they have registered? Or do they just find out about it on the winners' lists?
Not that I'm really expecting to win, but I have had problems getting emails from Nevrax in the past that have been sent to my very reliable email address. So... just double checking. Thanks!

Sorry Cerest. No offense. Everyone please set your 'display posts last blah' to seven days. go to the uk, german, french announcement's pages. You'll find about 5-7 posts in each. Nothing in the US forum.
It's not that the NA sever is a few hours off. It's over a month overdue in posts.

cerest usually foregoes the announcement forum and posts news here in stickies. in general i find that i can get information here faster than on the german boards, sometimes it fluctuates and the brit boards have the news way earlier tho

Thanks for the reply, cerest. I understand the timezone issues, but these things were a bit beyond that. Though, I didn't know about any scheduling issues you might have. I know how those can go.
