Any further news on the freezin issue. My 11 yr old son has saved up and paid his £29 quid for the game only to find it freezes as described. Ive spent all evening trying to get it to work. ATI 128 mb graphics and pent4. It seems to be a bit better in openGL but the game recommends not doing this? Only thing suggested in this thread that i havent tried is router firmware - anyone else tried this?
I dont see the point in paying £29 and £8 quid a month for something that doesnt work!
I havent had time yet to trawl the forums (tomorrow) - has anyone heard anything from NEVRAX about a future patch etc. the game was in beta for long enough!
Theyll be getting an email from me in victor meldrew mode 2m!

Reinstalling DirectX has helped several people. You can download the installer for the latest version from Microsoft here.

Ok Ive just done everything this post has said to do because Im having the same sort of problems. But I went and Uninstalled down to direct x 8.1 and I downloaded the 9.0c installer and it still just rushes to the finish part. It also still says Im running DX 8.1 on DXDIAG. Anyone know a cause of this Issue or if there is a way to make sure the File Im downloading is correct??

That doesn't sound good. I had the same problem when EQ switched to DX9. it want so far that an in-depth system analysis revealed my PC claimed to using the standard VGA driver!

The only solution I found was a complete system reset (only available for windows XP) - hope it wont take you to go so far.

If you're using a router, do ensure that the firmware is updated. There is a thread that talks about routers already pinned so that could be a problem too.

Let us know how you do. Good luck.

I got DxDiag saying 9.0c now...did an entire System Restore(emachines computer) and reinstalled all the latest drivers from Motherboard to Graphics and DX. Havent tried to play yet though so I dont know If Im gonna get any more wierd crashes.

Update: I played for about 1hour 30 minutes and had NO PROBLEMS tonight. So heres what I did.

1. Format Harddrive and reinstall Windows XP

2. Reinstalled DirectX 9.0c using the DX9.0c redist file(for those who WONT have internet while they are installing DX) Webinstall is not as good and the redist can be found at the bottom of the normal 9.0c page

3. Reinstalled most recent Motherboard Driver Package(I have Nforce 2 Motherboards chipset)

4. Reinstalled most recent Graphics Adapter Driver package(ATI Catalyst Drivers)

5. Used Windows Update utility on http://www.microsoft.com at least THREE times to make sure I had all the Updates I needed.

6. Reinstalled Saga of Ryzom

7. Ran Saga of Ryzom-> I didnt even have the C++ Runtime Error when it was updating...I did have that error the first time I installed so Im hopeful.

Hope all this Helps.

Damien

Alright, is it possible that the game could cause the card to generate more heat than usual? I've begun to think that my freezing is a heating issue, as it behaves the way a overheating CPU would, and the way it freezes constantly after the first freeze. It's like it heats overtime, which is why I think I can play an hour or two before the freeze fest begins. Today I experienced a particularly bad freeze, where my moniter wasnt getting a signal from the card, which I assume could be some really, really bad heating. I pulled it out, blew the dust off and it worked fine afterwards (cooldown?).
Anyway, is it a valid question, or am I nuts? Is Ryzom causing my card to overheat?

I have yet to be able to get beyond the character creation screen. My PC will lock up solid and I have to do a reboot.

I am running an AMD 1800, Geforce2 GTS, 512 mb.
Directx is 9.0c, video drivers are 61.nn.
Other games run fine.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game but no love.

I am not behind a router.

Yesterday, during the reload, it hung up my PC during the patch, somewhere near 32/139 or somesuch.

I have tried the setup option of using OpenGL and that doesn't work.
I tried turning off all the video options in the setop and got some error about
"cannot allocate AGP memory"

I am close to pulling the plug on this beta-ware, and putting the game up for auction on E-Bay.

Jeez, I just read the thread about AMD processors overheatin with the game.
http://ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3049
Could it get any worse? My poor system is gettin the shaft in this game (AMD & ATI hardware). Its unfortunate that the only workarounds are to roll back the settings to hardware that is not what I payed for. This is increasingly frustrating. I don't know how much longer I can take this, as I feel the frustration everytime I load another game and it works without a hitch.

FYI, I have 8 Chassis fans, a non-stock copper CPU fan, and a PCI slot fan blowing on my Radeon.
