Agreed, just give us the prices as shown in the vendor screen, not something else that we have no idea what it is. The calculations are already being done as we can see them plainly but those are not what we actually get. Why? this should be fairly simple to correct.

*BUMP*
Any information on this, Cerest? Is it an acknowledged problem (I can't see how it could be otherwise)? Is it something that will be fixed soon?
Right now trying to figure out what you will get when you put your items up for resale is just about impossible. Remains very annoying!
Thanks.

My issue with prices is that I don't seem fame affecting buy prices of Tickets. I have a Fyros with HUGE kami plus fame and HUGE negative Karavan fame (almost 50+ kami, and yellow Karavan). She pays 12k and change for EVERY ticket she buys, no matter if it is Kami or Karavan, no matter what region or civilization she is in.
My alt is a Tryker, she has medium Karavan fame (a few negatives due to a few lowbie kami/fryos missions) and slightly negative Kami fame. Guess what...she pays EXACTLY the same as my Fyros who has the much better fame with some and much worse with others.
Umm I thought our fame was supposed to affect all buying prices, including tickets and stables, was I misinformed?

Yes this is an acknowledged, annoying problem. It is being looked at however so please have just a little bit more patience. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I just was looking for this kind of confirmation, and I am completely satisfied. I was not looking for an exact estimate of when it would be fixed; I'm satisfied to know they are aware of the problem, and are working on it.
Thanks, Cerest.

Ok, I'm bringing this thread back to life, because I've just carefully read the notes for the latest patch (boy there was a lot of stuff in them) and didn't see this problem mentioned. There were several merchant fixes listed, but this wasn't mentioned. And the inaccurate price problem is the LARGEST merchant problem by far, and remains very annoying.
So, Cerest, can I ask you to update this once again? Is the problem discussed in this thread addressed in this patch, or not?
Thanks.

No it hasn't been addressed this patch. I really don't have any other information to give about when it'll be addressed at the moment either. I can tell you that I have pointed it out to Nevrax however (along with this thread).

I talked to a GM in game about it and he told me it has to do with fame. When i asked him how fame affects it he said that is for the community to figure out as they cant tell us how fame works. So... that's what it is but not how to change it directly other then with fame somehow

Pretty simple. High level fame with a race seems to make the bug less apparent; you'll still get a discount in the green line of text in your user info window versus what the NPC screen tells you but its not nearly as significant. Low fame with a race and the bug is much more apparent; the price goes waaay down. I actually think the real bug is pretty simple - the NPC screen is not showing the fame adjusted price and your sales price to other players is forced to be fixed off that price. Fix that and then you can set the appropriate player price. When my Matis fame is 100 and my Fyros -7 and I get the same base price, fame still isn't being applied correctly.
What a weird response from a GM; I would save the conversation and forward it to a SGM as a suggested improvement in customer support. If the bug wasn't acknowledged, its one thing. But its one of those very rare bugs that has been acknowledged, its blindingly obivous its fame related, and if a player offers to help check it - or asks if there's a workaround - what's the harm in letting people know what I just said? Kind of like letting people know that crafting or quartering a dead mob clears out temporary inventory and takes out the packer bug. Jeez, massive exploit there.
Oh, the state secret in pricing when it comes to fame is....(drum roll)...every increase of 1 fame point increases offer price or decreases sales price by a small percentage of the base item price, which generally doesn't go below 1 dapper per item if the item base price is under 1k and substantially more (like 1% per fame point) when it comes to things like riding mektoubs. Improvements alternate between offer and sales prices as you increase your fame.

I appreciate the reply from cerest very much.
To amplify what usinuk has said, fame has little to do with the pricing bug. Even if there was a discrepancy between what the merchant said they would pay you and the number they actually pay (and I cannot for the life of me see why that should be), still the percentages should all be adjusted to account for that as well. And they aren't. Not even close. The merchant screen will show the correct markup figures for the item that you're selling (for resale). Then when you actually sell it the markup is completely different, like 75% instead of 35%.
I don't believe this bug has much, if anything, to do with fame. It is a problem created in part 2 of patch 2, before that the merchant gave you what they said they would, and your resale price was what you thought it would be. When they corrected the markup figures (which had been wrong ever since the merchant feature was implemented) they somehow messed this up. Again, it's ridiculous that you cannot know how much an item you are putting up for resale will actually be priced at, until after you sell the item!
