Replacement Maps

Post by asaseth »

Not to complain too much, but the maps for Zorai are kinda weak. Impassable ridges all over, and haveing to travel a ways out of your way, to get to a particular town. Case in point, that SE town in Cities of Intuition, where you have to folow lower half of the boarder to get to it, instead of just cutting accross. On those timed missions, that is crucial, not to mention "My map says there is a town this way, so If I can get there, this Ragu that I am trying to outrun is dead...Where the heck did this ridge come fro...nevermind, just respawn there. <sigh>"

On that note, I have seen somewhere, a site that had replacement maps for Ryzom, ones that actualy showed where all the ridges are and stuff. Problem is, I can't find it anymore. Any help? Anyone at all?

All Zorai cities have more than one entrance, and I presume that goes for all cities in the game.

Regarding timed missions, I would suggest you wait with those untill you are more familiar with the terrain, especially considering that the map isn't that accurate.
Case in point regarding the ragus, which means to have far to long to the south and is traveling the long way. I suggest you head almost directly east from the karavan teleporter, assuming you start in Zora.

A few other thing to consider:
- Selecting the cities will give you a view of entrances/exits in the city.
- Make mapmarks to help you around the map.

he does have a point about the impassable walls all over not being shown on the map. Similar obstacles things in other continents are generally marked somewhat, i.e. the trench or the wall between pyr/dyron in fyros, the dividers in tryker, the ramp into the desert in matis, etc.

Indeed, I still have my map marks on entrances/exit on cities from my "noob" time, even though I know the terrain like the back of my hand :)

Added to wishlist: Different kind of map marks, which would make it easier to have a look at the map. And not haveing all marks pop up in the compass>landmark list, which for me is waaay to short now

That might work. Have to definatly do some work with the markers to let me know where the towns and stuff are, though.
