You are kidding surely? The whiners are far more vocal on these forums - it is the nature of things that satisfied customers rarely speak up (too busy enjoying the game) whereas unhappy ones will moan til the cows come home.
It amazes me how many whiners there are out there. People posting saying they quit because they cant play, mobs are too hard etc. I wonder if these people actually play the game because I've had no problems with harder mobs, and I haven't heard my guildmates complaining. I've seen people post that it's impossible to play anymore - these people are either liars or clueless when it comes to gaming.
Yes I had to adjust after Patch 1, no longer could I solo stuff 30 levels higher than me but that was a necessary change. I don't think anyone has said don't fix anything - there are still bugs that need to be sorted out. But a lot of the whiners have demanded that things be put back to pre Patch 1 conditions - they are asking for an inbalanced (i.e. too easy) game. Personally I get my fun from completing a challenge, going into a fight and winning or losing by the skin of my teeth - accumulation of levels with little challenge would be boring.
I suspect the whiners and quitters will be just as petulant when other games do not fit their vision of the ideal game. I think the numerous comments I've read about EQ2 not being ready for release and full of bugs shows that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
It's disappointing that people are leaving, as it means less money in the Ryzom development pot. However, the number of players doesn't reflect whether a game is good or bad - most of that comes down to marketing and branding. McDonalds has a shed load more customers than my local burger bar, but the local serves real food not reconstituted cardboard.
