I'm hoping that these "loots" will either be quartered materials that can be used to craft some really good items, or possibly even just quest items. Like you, I do not want to see this game reduced to a bunch of people camping (and squabbling over) rare, superpowerful mobs that drop the very best items in the game.

I just *left* a game like that =(

I think an item that has nice stats but becoming useless and remaining would be nice. That way you can still wear your ceremonial armor to events tha's all sparkly.

I would trust to the community spirit in the grouping, killing and distribution of unique mobs/components/items. Thus far I have only experienced a bad group once since beta. Camping/Kill stealing do not seem to be an issue here in Ryzom, and with such pro-active Game Masters I truly doubt it ever could become one.

What other options are there? Everyone can kill the uber mobs (No challenge?) or no one can kill the uber mobs? Eventually everyone will be able to kill these, theoretically, given a long enough time (they are having an 8-year story plan i believe).
Poker of things, caster of sparklies, maker of stuff, digger of dirt, wanderer of paths....

Aähhm, I'm not so sure, i mean people are people afterall. The reason for the generally genourous attitude here in SoR is the fact that there are no really rare drops or harvesting sources. Sure some mats are harder to come by and therefore more expensive, but all in all, there are no unique (or so rare that they can be treated as unique) items, that players have really to fight about. Once there are such items, you can bet that competition about these items will be fierce, and therefore prone to get ugly.

Anyway we will have to wait and see, what these items will be, and how rare they will really be.

well, with the current mob and boss layout i don't really see people fighting over the unique drops and actually getting anything ('cept perhaps from ibacus <_<)
either they do work together or noone gets anything since everyone is dead

what about give quest xp, fame and such things instead of ubery loot? a boss-killing quest would add content... instead of make people swarm and camp bosses places in hope for an uber loot drop.

Ahhhh, but you are wrong, there is Kitin Larvae, it can be used to craft ANY part, it's like the starting Wondermat with uber stats.
