Tired
Re: Tired
I really do think if people hold on for a month or so until the second patch things will improve a tremedious amount. I know the first thing you are thinking about is that the first patch was such a mess and screwed things up, so the second patch will be worse. I don't beleive that. The first patch was about trying to bring balance to the game and trying to improve the core activites of harvesting, fighting, magic, and crafting. If they succeeded is another debate/discussion that has been covered many other places and really is beside the point. The second patch is all about content (or mostly). Player mounts will be added, the encylopedia, real quests, racial differences. So if you are having doubts, just hold on till after patch two before you leave.

Is this something you've heard from the dev's (about the 2nd patch)? Or is this wishful thinking?raynes wrote:I really do think if people hold on for a month or so until the second patch things will improve a tremedious amount. Don't mean to sound sarcastic but staying another month is money I could have put on another, more exciting game that isn't still in beta like Ryzom seems to be. I certainly understand your desire to be as fair as possible but, the reality is (at least in my mind, now mind you), Ryzom is a lost cause for now until they decide, once and for all, the direction they want the game to go. Again, the silence is quite deafening, the "event" is one-sided, the "balancing" is completely unbalanced (again, in my view) and the content, while good at lower levels, is lacking at the higher levels from what I'm reading. Nothing to shoot for.
I looked back on page 25 of this forum and just a month ago, the activity was astounding! People were asking questions and had a REAL interest in trying to learn this game. The devs implemented Patch 1 for their own reasons but to completely shell-shock a community is begging for a negative response enmass. And it was a response they seem to be ok with given the small "fix" they implemented to try and smooth things over. It back-fired, in that it didn't fool a lot of people into staying, thus the cancelled accounts. But, again, they seem to be ok with people leaving as there's been no "real" attempt at keeping the players.
I was on last night and found a total of 12 people on board. Given just a few weeks ago, there were too many to take time to count. This game just isn't worth my time right now. I'll keep an eye on the boards till my subscription runs out then on mmorpg.com to see the reviews. If it gets better, I may come back.
Re: Tired
As the patch 1 dust settles, I'll be jumping on the "we need content" bandwagon. Seriously though, I think in weeks and months to come this will drive away a lot more people than patch changes. I'll probably wait as long as patch 2 myself, assuming it's months down the road. I do really love the game and will hang on for a good while.

If we dont get some content soon to keep a guild sized organization focused on something the grind will surely make others give up.
They managed to implement the kitin invasions so it would look good for movies they produce, but thats not content. WE NEED SOMETHING TO ACCOMPLISH !

Melinoe and Minyatur in my opinion are the top 2 performing guilds on the north american server. Both our orginizations pushed the very limits of the game, determined to find out every facit of our capabilities. We pushed to see the lvl 150+ crafting plans. We strived to explore every corner of the lands, we reached some of the highest lvls in the game at 205+ for some of our members and all this was basicly because there was nothing else to do.
But when its all said and done, were just victims of playing a game too young to support a player base that is as hard core as we are. Most people in a guild like mine just ask for things to accomplish. Challenges to overcome are what keep players. If there is nothing to accomplish the motivation to play is lost. Its not Nevraxs fault really, I mean we're all upset that the game does not have more but its in its infancy and reguardless of the poor decisions made by its pruduction dept. its going to take time for it to mature enough to support any type of playerbase makes it their job in life to do everything in the game as fast as humanly possible. Thats what power gamers do. My wife preaches to me all the time about my lack of ability to play a game to have fun, I just try to explain to her that I play the game to accomplish things, to be the best and work as hard as I have to, to accomplish that. I honestly cant play a game to just casually and slowly glide through its content. I want to see the whole game, get the highest lvls, reach the top of my abilities as absolutly fast as I can do it. Its really hard to find a game that can support that. EQ was honestly the single best game I have ever played for that type of content. It took me over 2 thousand hours to achieve what I considered to be end game. Thats a lot of 16 hour days.
So for me I will stop asking for what Ryzom cant give. I will just give the game time to develope and maybe return when its a bit older.
Thanks for having us.

Is it just me or can you no longer see the people that are logged in at the bottom of the main forum page? Just want to know if I'm the only one before I laugh at them for hiding more population information....isabow wrote:I looked back on page 25 of this forum and just a month ago, the activity was astounding!

Ah! European community...don't go there much but may have to start. This forum is a bit slow.
Thanks, Raynes.

So Cerest, whats the "official" response on why this was done? I bet there were so many people logged in that the forum code couldn't handle so many lines of text.............. :/
