Is there a way to remap the keys for the game?

No offense to the design, but I just can't seem to get the whole click Enter before typing a text message. I just start type and all of sudden all of the windows keep opening and closing. Kind of gets annoying.

You can press K within the game to open up the keys window, which will allow you to remap your key configuration.

For the chat, there is also an option in the Game Configuration menu (press U) under Interface > Chat to allow the chat box to retain focus even after you send a message. This might also give you more of what you're looking for.
