Corrupted files

Post by ankan »

Hi!
I've been experiencing crashes, reboots and game freezes for a long time.
Sometimes I've to restart the game because it finds corrupted files in the startup-checking (Don't know why).
Today when I played, the game crashed yet again. So I restarted the game again. Only this time it said that it couldn't find a file. I tried to start the game again, but it was the same result.
I restarted the computer but the game said the same thing (it had help before with other ryzom crashes to restart the computer).
Then I uninstalled the game and tried to reinstall it.
But then it said that the data1.cad was corrupted (the file on the cd???)!

What should I do?

its not really anything to do with ryzom unfurtanetly its to do with one of your Memory sticks and the way its allocating your memory to windows installshield packager

i just spent 7 hours trying to locat the source of the problem. (on a new HD mobio and 1 gig of ddr 400 ram)

go to Start menu
run
type in msconfig
select Boot.ini tab
click advanced button
in there you will see maxmem box enter 256 here and reboot then retry

this basicallly puts a command line of maxmem=256 on teh boot.ini file. If it works you can then untick that box but it may be best to check out your memory sticks.
note im currentyly patching at the moment after i installed and not tested wether or not the game will run when i removed the maxmem=256 line from boot.ini but ill let you know.

If it doent work still let me know as it could have been a combinatioon of things i have done today including the above.

good luck

Note: This is not a problem with Ryzom installer package as the same error will occur on any game cd (just before the moaners jump on the band wagon :p )

I had 768 as maxmem, but the box wasn't checked.

My 3 memory sticks are as follows:
1 * 512 DDR running at 2700
1 * 256 DDR running at 2700
1 * 256 DDR running originally at 3200, but since the other two are 2700, this one must also run at 2700

But when we recently inserted the new 512 memory stick, one of the two 256 stopped working and didn't show up at boot or in windows.

So currently one of the two 256 isn't running but is still inserted.
Can the conflict between the 2700 and 3200 be the problem of my crashes?

remove the 256 stick, as i said though if u enter 256 in the maxmen it will most liklye fix your problem once your game is installed you can remove that line by simply unticking it again. and if one stick is not working the definetly remove it.

As for confliction depends what type of mobo you have has some mobos can support various types of dimms now

if u got msn u can catch me at scomac_@msn.com

oh forgot to say thopugh it is best to root out the faulty stcik and chuck it away cause u will need to adjust the memory allocation each time you need to install something subsatntial like a game
