So far I have come to like this game. I also like alot of other games some that are comming out too.
I think ryzom has provided a nice challenge now. Although the mini patch lowered xp a little which I hate its ok. I don't mind the fight have grouped alot and its great not having to blind anymore. Warrior would have you blind cause they didn't want to damage there nice armor =0).
I spent 40 lvls blinding everytime I team eventually leaving my elemental skills behind. Now that patch is here no more blinding ever again no more boring combat. All I use to do is make sure I targeted the mob then watched tv while I clicked on blind. Hmmm the tv was more interesting then the combat. The only time I was ever allowed to heal was when it was just friends.
I know many people hate it now and there entitled to there opinions. I for one enjoy the new combat system of not sitting there blinding all day.
I remember the night before patch me and a group of 5 were fighting lvl 176 mob. We were lvl 60 btw. We took them down with ease 2 blinders it never touched us once all night killing trying to get as many lvl before patch.
Now I can't watch tv while I play. The game is more interesting and you have to think before you act. I know there is a curve probably after so many levels. Since I am not there I can't speak on it. When I am I am pretty sure I will still continue to level just fine in the teams I have been in.
I know its hard for some and if you need help just say so in region and I am sure you will hear me say sure i'll team with you.
10 lvls in the last 2 days lvl 44 healer.
Those of you that hate it need to give the patch a chance. Just like you told ppl ooh its a good game you have to wait it gets better. I think this system is good give it a chance after 2 weeks you don't like it then complain or leave or whatever you want to do.
P.S.
If things go back to the way they were its ok. I'll just move on. I was getting bored before patch and thinking about moving on. Now though I am enjoying myself more.

Re: Changes in Ryzom
You nailed it right on, now we have long down time or forced grouping. I think it's in Nervrax's best interest to make a solo friendly game to try and keep the people that came from AC/ac2. As soon as EQ2 comes out allot of the grouping nuts will move on.swayzo wrote:So far I have come to like this game. I also like alot of other games some that are comming out too.

Re: Changes in Ryzom
I personally am grateful for the patch! I really like it! If it weren't for the patch, I probably wouldn't have tried new things for a long while.
I had only really started working on magic levels a few weeks before the patch rolled. I caught the bug by watching a matisian shaman slice through a demi-hoard of kipee! So I got into the magic game a little late. I got all the usual spells, Blind, Fear, Heal HP, Cold, and Acid. Those seemed to be the most used. Well, just before the patch, I discovered that fear/nuking was actually a great way to level! And then the patch came...
All of a sudden the only thing going up was my DP. I quickly took a tour of Tryker mainland, picking off things at an increasingly higher level, just to see where my xp would come from.
Then the mini-patch came. Things got a little better. I went back to the magic trainer to see what I could get that might possibly give me an edge. I bought root. And you know what? I now love root! Root plus the now increased magic range, I can hang near the water and if root is resisted, I take a short dip if I need to. BUT! If Root sticks, I can get 2-3 Acid or Cold spells off before the Root wears off. By then, the mob is halfway dead and I don't mind taking a few hits when I know the mob only needs 2-3 more shots of Acid.
Yes it's a little tougher, but there are other tactical solutions than letting water become your impenatrable moat. Fear still comes in handy to single pull a mob or to try and get the mob off me, but I've found that if spells are going to be resisted, I might as well spam my nukes if the mob is clobbering me.
But my point is, I can solo magic! with just as much fun as I was having pre-patch...even more! I don't get as much xp, but I don't mind. It's the full gaming experience I'm into. This Ryzom world we're part of has a lot more to it than just powerleveling to 250 and trying to convince people you have bragging rights.
But thats just my opinion.
