Patch 1 - to many complains
Re: Patch 1 - to many complains
Havin no problem with patch so far either. (Harvesters, if u havent seen it yet, check this out: http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4912)
The hunting have gotten tremendously exciting; a real challenge for ones.
As many already been pointing out, the story of Chapter 1 indicates that the tide my turn eventually, which is even more encouraging. A truly dynamic world!

Re: Patch 1 - to many complains
Coinneach, I know what you are saying, and to a certain degree I agree with you, but I was standing beside one of your guys who got respawned at the Kami in Pyr last night (and this was an excellent fighter) He wasn't a bit impressed, he got killed by some "no XP giving" beastie.
Regarding what you say about the increased difficulty, I could solo two Mean Kiozars (one after the other) and have about 100 HP left over. Now, One Mean Kiozar can kill me in about 3 hits. That is some increased difficulty level. I have good armour and weapons, newcomers are going to find it tough going.
I can go kill Vig Kiozars (500 xp) and Str. Kiozars (800 xp), but I'll have to stop and sit down every few minutes to replenish HP, not Stamina, I have 1000 STM, I only get to use about 200 (max) in a fight, all the points I have left in STM, I could have used more constructivley in other ways, I have about 11 levels of Balance Training (to replenish stamina quickly) they are also wasted and could have been used more constructively.
You use Mage as an example, The Mage spells are more powerful now (I'm led to believe), so Soloing is a viable option, but I traded all my Mage Levels for Heal so I could be Healer and Figher in the Guild, Now the fights are over so quickly ( and 'cos Heal animations are so long), even my Heal levels are wasted.
I like to think of a game like this as a progressive thing. When I arrived in Pyr, I was shocked at how tough the beasties were, I got as far as South Stables after awhile (I remember an excellent night there with Ginzo [UKM's], killing Caps for teeth so he could make me new armour ). Then I got as far as Fourways with The Samsara Guild, I saw my first Strong Kipee ("WTF is that!" I shouted in awe). I then got as far as Barkgully, confident in the knowledge I could take on most beasties there, got past the Cloppers, Mean Kipees and Mean Kiozars to eventually get to Dyron and have some excellent nights there and in the Roots. As I said, continual progression, Now I'm stuck in Fourways again working off DP.
I'm not sure if I'll stay and I'm saddend by that, I have made some excellent friends here, (even you, ya big kilt wearin' Jessie ) and hopefully I'll stay on (If I don't who are you going to dance with ). But currently, I'm looking at returning to SWG (and pissing of the UKM's over there ), Neocron looks interesting or maybe Anarchy, but it is a very hard decision for me to make as I love(d) this game, the environment and the people. Here's hoping

Re: Patch 1 - to many complains
I like the patch somewhat. I like it that I can heal for 616hp, that is nice. The new gloves are nice.
Have yet to try group play but solo is kinda impossible for me as I didnt level the affliction levels at the same rate as my elemental. Thus I can only do damage, I cant keep mobs off me. Mob reach me, I die.
I tried a nettled timari (lvl 130ish), I'm level 155 elemental, it should net me perhaps 200-300 xp. It is now immune to blind, my lvl 60 stun is resisted and my fear 5 (I think) will make the mob run off about 20m before coming back.
Only way for me to actually kill something is to use double lightning 2 (level 160 spell). I can do 960 damage with that, really nice. But most mobs I can get xp from have at least 4k hp. The double lightning cost 320 so it hurts me alot to cast it. Could try double acid 8 as well, might work better as I get amp bonuses.
My main problem with the patch is that I cant really solo anything for any xp. I either kill the mob in 1-2 hits or it kills me. The first scenario means no xp so I cant even get rid of dp. The second raises my dp.
So far I've noticed that Izams, Mektoubs and Timaris are immune to blind. Gonna test some more tonite I think.
The game was quite easy before, at least up to lvl 70 or so. Level 100+ the game was quite hard. Had they just fixed blind lvl 100+ pre patch would've been VERY hard. Now it's insane.
Pre patch we actually killed a few Kirostas (lvl 160ish and 180ish) that are immune to blind. We were a full group of 120-160 mages and fighters. Took us perhaps 5 minutes to kill one as the fighters missed 99% of their hits. It had tons of hp and the mages were busy trying to stun it. After about 2 mins the mages started nuking instead and then it went a little faster.
Most ppl who like the patch alot were the ones who said there was no fast decay I can imagine (just my opinion), when I first brought it up everyone (including GM's) said that I was perhaps using bad mats in my equipment (mostly supreme prime root mats). A week later more ppl were noticing that one need 2 staffs to hunt one evening. Well, decay is still high. High decay coupled with no mats for crafters mean that instead of just being a naked mage with some gloves I'll soon be a naked mage with no gloves.
What I mean is that there was a quite steep difficulty increase pre patch starting at about lvl 70. So I would like to hear at what level ppl are who say it's a good patch and what level the ppl who say it's a bad patch?

Re: Patch 1 - to many complains
After reading through some more posts, a quite clear pattern emerges. Those who are able to keep mobs at distances (affliction spells) are the ones still able to solo some.
Well, if the complains continues, we can sure count on a re-balance of mob dmg. The harvesting changes, for example, will soon be rechanged a bit.

The game was just WAY to easy before, now maybe harvesting is just a little bit to hard, but it's a challenge. Have fun, see you on Atys
I hope you like playing solo, cus you are going to do quite a lot in next weeks. To the news about this major patch mistake as cooldown.
And maybe some more "happy" newbies have joined. If neverax can take the hit of loseing so many player on one server.
Me and many others lost quite some online m8'ts today so gon't give me this crap about having fun.
Re: Patch 1 - to many complains
Also think that lover DP should be a good approach! Not too low though.

I guess the patch is like marmite
you either love it or hate it...

Re: Patch 1 - to many complains
I don't care what plans they have for the game in the future.
When they take out the fun factor and makes my affliction mage (lvl 145)
totally useless it's just not worth it anymore.
Linked spells now drain all my SAP in less that 50 seconds (bugged).
I miss with 98% of my spells (on the mobs we used to hunt).
How much fun do you people think it is for us who used to play the game
8-10 hours every day - to find out that all our hard work has been useless ?
And people who are at lvl 30-40 stop calling us whiners and complainers !!!
You can't possibly imagine what the game is like for us now so just shut it !!
