Even at level 32 melee, 300-500 HP makes for a long grind. And to kill the same two or three creatures I'll be able to solo again and again and yet again......it's funny, most of the talk before the patch related to changes in harvesting, but I'm thinking the changes to combat will have much larger effects on lower level (<100) characters. Right now, those changes don't seem good. As I've pointed out in other threads, the game was already somewhat limited and monotonous for lower level solo players, even pre-patch. I'm afraid this problem may have been made worse.
If the game isn't fun at lower levels, most won't play long enough to get to the higher levels.
I agree with the general consensus here. I have a couple of decent characters on the ML, But I created a new character on fyros. Something I've noticed here, even on the refugee islands, the MOBs hit a *LOT* harder. For example, puny gingos are hitting for 55+ damage a whack. That in and of itself isn't *too* bad. Where the problem comes in is that I've noticed that all the MOBs respawn lightning quick. My new char is a level 35 melee with full goari heavy armor (pre-patch armor...there is another difference after patch get to that in a sec) With the aggro mobs doing more damage, seemingly aggroing from farther out and then respawning almost instanlt after dying, its gotten a *lot* harder even on the newb islands.
Now here's something else I found...weeny kipees used to drop q21 mats, the puny goaris dropped q21 and the puny gingos dropped q20. Now the goaris are dropping q18, the gingos are dropping q19 and I couldn't survive long enough to even find a weeny kipee, much less kill one to check its drops. So now we have bigger tougher MOBs, that drop lower quality mats, respawn a lot quicker, *and* give less xp (presumably from a level drop, that would explain the mat qual drops)
Couple all this in with one more problem I've noticed since the patch was released... *LAG-LAG-LAG* Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the dreaded Lag-Monster has reared its *ugly* head again. I've found that I was staring at "please wait" for about 10 seconds out of every 30 seconds that I was on. This makes fighting almost impossible. One second your walking along free from danger... then "please wait" pops up... the when it goes away, you're staring at an aggro mob in your face that has already hit you *TWICE* in the lag interval.... luckily it has just been gingos so far.... hate to see what goaris can do in that time b4 you know they're there.
So anyway, if Nevrax can't get some of these problems fixed (I'd be happy if just the lag alone went away... i could deal with the rest) I'm gone from here.
I've been playing since release and I've been patient with all the problems so far, but this has just really gone over the top imho. Oh yeah, conveniently, they released this patch just 2 days *after* they charged my card. Nice huh? Well they have until the end of my current pre-paid period.
If it doesn't get better, then so long folks. If that happens, I just want to say that for the most part, I've enjoyed my time here, and I want to thank all the people I consider friends that I've met on here.
Sincerely,
Kelvyn, Sethyn, Sethe, Kyra, Calvyn, and Kagan
