Be nice if production was somehow related to population ....cat and OP mat production, boss HP, NPC difficulty etc....would be very nice if all was somehow scaled to IG player population / activitycalel wrote: The problem with the current implementation might as well be due to a lack of population. With few mouths to feed, the harvests from Outposts are to bountifull. Increase the population and it might even out more or less. The point I made before about equality between time investment and benefits could then be applicable. Perhaps toning down the costs for catalysts from faction and civ merchants, might make the mission alternative more viable as well. (good thing these are available, they weren't three years ago iirc)
Cats and dyes

Re: Cats and dyes
There were many who had Masters before cats were introduced. It was a tough grind but the feeling of accomplishment was far sweeter. On Windermeer(the defunct US server) we had monthly gatherings where the GMs gave recognition to those who Mastered a skill the previous month. That said I believe that instead of cats a rebalance of xp required to Master or larger xp allowed per kill was preferable to cats. The fact that we could grind on Dai-den at Staring for 3k per kill max team at 240-249 lvl skills made it more fun and easier imo to plods or any super herbies they put in when they stopped DD from insta respawning because Named are supposed to be special.

Re: Cats and dyes
I remember those Staring Dai Den hunts ... had over 2k Dai den mats at the end of that 240-250 run and Alegra made me a full set of weps from Dai Den which is still have.
I prefer the cats option to a change in XP rate as I have control. I can choose not to use cats whereas if xp rate were changed, I'd have no choice there. One option I could support would be cats only work on crafting.
Though I wouldn't mind if they also worked on ya first category master ..... 1st dig, 1st melee, 1st magic .... and then on any craft.
On the "it was much sweeter then" note, I have to say something about trekking. I rember the excitement being in the 1st team of homins ever to reach Dyron ...... then Thesos .... I remember the discovery of kirosta fighting mayhem at "the bridge" closest to Pyr ..... the 1st time we entered a portal ... the 1st time we made it to forest and lakes ..... but mostly I remember the thrill of exploring .... making it to a new area ... getting through a pile of MOB's and then just stopping and smelling the cratcha !
Being hauled like a package, surrounded by an unbeatable army ..... NO STOPPING ! ..... NO LOOTING ! .... NO TAKING A MOMENT TO ENJOY THE BEAUTY OF YOUR NEW SURROUNDINGS ! on a trek robs one of the opportunity for new and exciting experiences. Those tarvels of discovery are all by far my best memories in the game.

Re: Cats and dyes
I have to agree FF that early treks with all the mayhem were by far some of the most fun I had ingame. That said I had to wait until I was over L100 melee til I had an opportunity to join one. It was a glorious 12+ hour world tour that took what was almost the entire online server population to cross Loria. I think tho with the low population it is imperitive that new players gain access to to the higher lvl zones asap. Hence we now have the 3 hour quickie treks with 2 or 3 high lvl peeps taking newbs to the other lands to allow them a chance to find teams and peeps to play with.

Re: Cats and dyes
Oh I agree with you FF, Kilgore and gee I even agree with you Iala.
The first treks were just wonderful. They use to be almost like the whole server. Took almost an hour or so to even get ready to leave. It was wait someone else is coming. It was such fun. Leaving Yrk to attempt to make it through the Knoll of Dissent and into the Hidden Source. The ramp use to be quite the job to get up. Then hugging the wall with sometimes with many deaths to make it to the portal for Fyros. What a relief when we got through. Then to make it to Thesos. Wow.
I remember when the portal at Knoll of Dissent was so hard to get through, the kinchers that were on each side. I know my group would see who wanted to be the bait to lure one side away. Didn't always work but it was fun.
Yes I have gone on the new treks, it is like what did I just see. We use to stop, look, smell the roses. Sit on top of the waterfalls in the lakelands just to go Ohhh look.
Agree the new ones want to level to the end as fast as they can. With out the cats most of us knew it was going to take a long time so why hurry, all the time in the world. there were a few that wanted to get their first master fast, but there were not that many. I have been here from beta and I still don't have a lvl 200.

Re: Cats and dyes
The population does put a damper on things. And it sux finding out that there 4 peeps on line you could level with but that you are all in different regions. Be nice if you could be tranported by an npc in each capital city to other capitals only .... as long as your level was below a certain level.
Re: Cats and dyes
BM's Tuesday treks try to sightsee. We make it a point to show some of the beauty of Atys. Virginia Falls is my personal favorite spot and I never miss a chance to gaze upon it's majesty.
