Maybe events are there for people who log in anyway, rather than to entice people to log in in the first place...

Nah, by that logic they should never announce anything out of game. Also, like I said, many people can check these forums or other sources from phones/portable devices without being able to log in game. That way, if they are planning or out, they can figure the activity into their day. This is especially important for busy people.

I ain't miffed about it, though. I liked the rest of the event. I was just surprised to not see a Tweet bout it either?

You could still do the race (against the clock) afterwards until server reboot but you had to be there on time to win some... mounting marshmellow sticks ?
