Fairhaven Now a Kami City
Earlier today Kamists took control of Fairhaven. It was initially a small battle which started to look grim for us. We had to lick our wounds and then eventually Fairhaven broke out into a full blown war zone and a Karavaneer body carpet.
Fairhaven is now under full Kamist control until it can be reclaimed by the Karavan. I, a Tryker Taliar, shall formally enter this into official records during the next Taliar meeting.
OOC: Thanks to all who came. Must have been as many of us there as in any recent outpost war. I hope you all had as much fun as I. Girls rule and Karas drool.

Sorry but the only result was a Kami loss, they lost the right to complain about spawn camping and ress killing which they did with impunity.
When the Kara side had the upper hand we waited patiently down the hill for you guys to res and heal up.
Great shame because yes was a fun scrap until the silliness started.

Re: Fairhaven Now a Kami City
I believe the intention was to provide some much-needed fun for both sides, rather than any real desire to control the city Unfortunately, battles are often pulled naturally towards spawn areas, as the battlefront moves forward - it takes strong teamwork and control to avoid this happening, as you're always looking for a new target if you're on the attack - and those targets inevitably come from a spawn area. This inherently draws the attackers closer, unless a mutual ceasefire happens to allow regrouping and retain the balance of battle. Real war doesn't follow this rule, but this isn't real war - it's entertainment, and as such should be dealt with differently.
It was a fun idea, but I think a little more pre-planning and self-control on the Kami side is needed if the same situation is organised in the future
I'd have to say well done to Sweet for gettings things together, well done to the Kamis for eventually easing up and giving ground in the name of fun, and well done to the Karas for persisting and not giving up early It's difficult to control a Kara city with the spawn so close, and the same applies when reversed for Kami. Next time, there should be a line drawn that the "invading" side will not cross - that would ensure enjoyment for all parties, I think

As explained by Dazman above, its hard to avoid ending up on top of the TP and takes some effort on both sides. But our side could have done better and I will try harder next time.
The point of this thread is to stir up some healthy rivalry and suggest that maybe Karas need to call us out to win their city back. In the meantime, plans are now underway to relocate the local Teleporter locations, moving the Kami TPs to more convenient locations, and the Kara ones to less favorable sites, as it should be in a Kami city.

Whether we're talking about the other night or not, that isn't strictly true. I think it's fair to say that some Kami players may have been pushing too hard and not quite playing fair, but it's definitely not the ONLY reason this happens Again, ignoring the event on Sunday, the natural tendency for fights to move towards the origin of the enemy is always present, and takes some amount of organisation and control to avoid. There wasn't enough of that on Sunday, granted - but I don't really see how this factor can be in question Even MMO developers would agree that natural tendency plays a big part in player behaviour, even with the best of intentions on both sidesgroundhog wrote:Edit: Been in many battles in other games as well as this one in the past. The only reason battles end up around a spawn site is when people want easy kills.
Another factor was the position of the battle - pretty much on a line between the Kami and Kara spawn points, again as is expected due to natural tendency or organic behaviour of PvP mechanics. Player fairness plays a part again, but it CAN be genuinely difficult to control
I hope that if this kind of event happens again, two things will occur. Firstly, both sides need to excercise control over their group, and ensure organisation does not go out the window. Second, the location of battle should be chosen to allow some distance between spawn points. This is difficult to achieve in towns/cities, because one spawn is always going to be central, with the other outlying. Somewhere remote would always be better, but that takes away the "claiming the location" element I guess. Maybe... I know this is radical... maybe BOTH sides would discuss the impending fight, and I don't mean smack talk lol
