It happend so sudden. First a rumor, that few believe. Then. Terror in everyones voice.
The sun shone brightly upon me, as i was sitting at the outskirts of Borea, on the Matis Island, trying to find some precious materials for a suit of heavy armor. It was suppose to be a gift for Lady Aspire. Birds sang. A slight breeze. Relaxing. All i needed to do was gather the materials for the armor. And then some materials for a couple Long Swords. Merry greetings to all i meet, and happy greetings back. There wasn't much for me to do on Matis Island. I just enjoyed the company of the people there.
But not long should pass, before i heard, from Bowlojnr i believe, that an something was stirring on the mainland. Kitins. First i didn't quite believe him. Surely the Karavan would protect us. Surely the Kitin couldn't have followed us here in such numbers to attack.
But... surely... i was wrong.
Then others started talking. Kitins had attacked in great numbers. Natae, Davae and Avalae had quickly fallen to the ravaging hordes. Homin, Matis and other races alike, were fighting for their lives.
So i was told. So did Lady Phaedrea confirm, when i asked her about it.
Kitins attacking my coming homelands. Warriors, Mages, Healers... fighting... bleeding... dying...
There was no doubt in my mind. I couldn't stay any longer on the Matis Island. Even though the Shaman Oba still hadn't been found, and i still had obligasions here, i could not stay. I cannot let my fellow homin die for all of us, while i sit idly by. My faith shall be my armor, and my resolve shall be blade. I fear not the great enemy.
I was ready to aid my brothers and sister on the battlefield. Announcing my thoughts, and my need to take leave, i headed to the towncenter of Borea.
Lady Aspire announced she would join me. I was glad to know, i would be fighting beside her.
Farewell mylady Phaedrea.
Lady Aluinie, I shall see you soon.
Farewell all the rest of you, friends.
Ah... the great city Yrkanis. I rejoiced when i saw that the people of this city till we're going about. Guards heavily patrolling. A couple adventures going around. Immideatly Aspire and I prepared for battle. Equipping Armor.... drawing Steel.... then towards the gates. We headed out. Immidiatly we meat kitins. These we're though just weak warriors, and we dispatched them quickly. Others were out too. Quickly we banded together. Bowlo, Aradine, Jamela, Aspire and I. It seemed easy. Though we could see plenty kitins, they were spread out. Not in to great numbers.
Then word got to us. Forces were trying to retake Natae. Davae had been liberated. As was Avalae, but a great host of kitins had been spottet south.
There was no doubt. We hastly ran towards Natae to aid in its liberation.
A kitin there. Dispatched.
2 kitins over there. Dispatched.
Then... we meet a kitin... twice the size of what we had fought so far... we charged and after a few intense moment, we were victorious. But our victory was shortlasted. Suddenly 4-5 of its type had surronded us, and we were fighting for our very lives... Bowlo, our healer, fell first, then me...
When i woke up again, i was in Yrkanis. So where the others. We regrouped and yet again headed towards Natae. Being more careful we headed south again, past the arena, and made it the road south. Other warriors were moving towards Natae as well, and our numbers grew to a dozen. Give or take.
Abit outside Natae we spottet a large group of kitins. Bolster by our greater numbers we charged. They didn't see what hit them. The kitins got cut down with ease, and shortly after we all were standing amidst 15 carcasses. But there was no time to rejoice. No time to rest. With haste we moved towars Natae.
As we arrived we were meet with an eerie silence. No guards. No citizens. No homin. Its gloomy. Like a ghost town. Cautionsly we entered... Nothing... It was completely desertet. Suddenly i thought i caught glimps of some movement ahead. Hoping it would be a friend. It was not. What little movement i saw, turned into big movement. By a very very big Kitin. A leader Kitin. A captain. A Rey.
At its feet, less then half a dozen homin were fighting it. In shock i looked on. It was huge. Its blades cut down its attackers. A valaint warrior fell to the ground. I snapped out of it. I started to move. Run. Lifting my Longsword above my head and charged towards the beast. The others were quick to follow. As i got to it, the last warrior died by its feet and i hurled myself at it in anger. It must die.
It was fast. It was strong. Its shell thick. Blow after blow after blow and it didn't seem to suffer any ill effects. Since itsother attacker was dead, it faced me. And even though my own healingcrystal, and the efforts of the healers did heal me alot, it wasn't enough. its pointy legs pierced my heavy armor as if it was butter... threw me to the ground. Overcame me. Killed me.
I woke up in Natae this time. As i headed towards my group, i saw how the Rey was slowly falling... crashing into the ground... We rejoiced. Then another was spottet and we charged. ur numbers had grown now. We were around 30 homin. The other Rey fell quickly to our combined power. Natae had been liberated. The south border had also been cleared. We rested alittle, then moved out, heading north.
We were strong. All kitins in our path fell to our blades and our magic.
Unfortunatley we quickly got seperated into smaller groups. At first it seemed wise. We could much more quickly dispatch the kitin groups. But we spread out to much. As we approached the Psyknoll hills Aradine had fallen behind, due to being slain by a kitin. While the majority of homin headed up the Psyknoll hill, i waited along with Jamela for Aradine.
Suddenly we heard skreams from beyond the hilltop. Seconds later kitin choc troops stormed forth. Lady Jamela was cut down fast, and i fell quickly too.
It took along time before our team would be regrouped. Until then i ended in a group only with Jamela being from my team. We were a group of half a dozen. Hunter becomes the hunted. First we kill a group of kitins, then we we get attacked by two. Surronded, we fought for our lives. As the dust settled, i was the only one left standing. Next to the body of a kitin, lay the body of Lady Jamela. I had failed in protecting her.
But alas. A battle was still raging across the lands, and i had to rejoin with friendly forces. A ran through the wilderness, enganging lonely kitins, avoiding groups. I came by Natae. The fair city had been overrun by kitin choc troopers.
After continues fighting in smaller groups, we got united into a large force again, led by Katla.
Our objectives was to find and destroy the kitin force commander. Its death would hopefully lead to the end of this vicious invasion. My part in this mission was limited as the shock of continous death overwehlmed me. Last i saw, was our great warparty fall at the feet of the kitin commanders bodyguard. A great host of kitin choc troops. Cutting brave homin down without prejudice. A slaughter.
