Don't see any changes? You've not checked Demon's Lap yet.
Purple PR kinreys and a Great Kizarak. If you thought Underwood Woe was hard....
Also, you will no longer find this cart.
And duh, they said nothing about fixing the map bug.
"Indeed, and all those kitin in Desert Stock are a total inconvenience too, all it takes is a healer outside who can heal and rez me through the wall again and again, it's hardly a challenge, so why can't I just walk in there and dig the larva?"
or the
"Yeah, and boss guards are a total inconvenience too, all it takes is pulling the boss away from them, which is hardly a challenge, so just get rid of those guards. In fact, the bosses don't need all that health either, all it takes to kill it is 10 minutes of nuke-and-heal spamming with enough people, more of an inconvenience than a challenge really, just make the boss drop dead instantly if enough highlevel nukers target it."
But it's a bit cheap countering every suggestion to make anything easier with a "might as well remove all challenge then". Fact is different players like different levels of challenge, differents kinds of challenge too. And a lot of players obviously did find the kitin patrols a fun challenge. That enough reason for you to put them back even if it doesn't add anything for you personally?
Ideally an MMO should provide different levels of difficulty to cater to a variety of players, up to the highest level of difficulty. And the way Ryzom is set up, it's sensible for the purple PR zones to provide this very highest level of difficulty. Since the patrols were removed they don't anymore, really; they're not much harder to sneak around in than aboveground areas like Loria or GoC. The patrols really made the PR feel like it had additional dangers beyond the aboveground regions.
And more importantly, any challenge becomes an inconvenience if you repeat it often enough.

Why yes, you could counter this with thejared96 wrote:Not against KP's but the previous implementation wasn't the real "challenge" it was oft made out to be. IMO, "inconvenience" fits better as a description than "challenge".

Well, there's no point in expecting them to fix a bug with a patch that doesn't say it'll fix the bug. I'm sure it's on their to-do list, they just haven't done it yet.

I admit at the beginning I was somehow disappointed that the map bug wasn't fixed, for I think that such a major bug is a *showstopper* ("almost* reproducible crash to desktop with unrecoverable data loss - without third party tools). It is reasonable to think that the severity of the bug is to be taken into account when defining the "to-do" list. However, after thinking about it a bit, and to be fair to SW, there are quite a few explanations:whiterider wrote:Well, there's no point in expecting them to fix a bug with a patch that doesn't say it'll fix the bug. - Most probably, it involves a client patch (this one was server patch only), which means that they may be polishing client-side patch aspects which has delayed the fix, hopefully included in a major patch that includes new additions and the pony I asked for xmas.
- They don't have the same priorities that we do (it may be way more important for the game health to stop cheats). I would not dare to say that it only affects a small portion of players, but well...
- They haven't figured out the cause of the bug (making it reproducible doesn't mean it is easy to fix) or it needs further investigation of possible side-effects
- It is part of a greater patch with a revamped compass system (one can hope too..)
*mumbles*pweeeze tell me that there *will* be a client side patch...

Client side issues will be fixed with a client side patch. Clients crashing is going to be a client side issue. There will be more patches to come. According to the given info, this was more of a test (of the server update process) than a significant update.
Things are moving along, we can't expect everything to happen at once (And really, you don't want it to. Nothing introduces bugs faster than many heavy updates all thrown in at once).
Peace,

although i love to see a patch, (and awesome work making the game harder not easier, its been a long tie since we`ve seen a patch like this), I hate that they have bypassed the 2 major bugs, we havnt ever asked for major heavy updates that included hundreds of things, we just want these 2 things fixed, the team map bug (yes we know its hard to fix, it has appeared and dissapeared for the last two years+, but please attempt to fix it), and north compass bug.
Then and only then we can worry about a cart that is in the wrong place.
