It isn't up to date. The Character creation lets you chose between 4 different starting profiles, but those aren't a "Class". The difference between them is only a single skill and/or more generic mats. From then, your character can still grow in all the directions you want and reach level 250 in every skill branch you decide, as long as you put the time.

You want to be a mage, that is fine. But having at least one branch of melee helps too. Melee lets you gain HP faster (every 5 lvl) compared to magic (every 10 lvl) or digging/crafting. Also, there are 4 types of magic. Elemental (most would call it pure DPS), Healing, Offensive Affliction (De-buffing) and Defensive Affliction (Crowd Control).

Elemental and Affliction XP can be gained solo (Though Affies are mostly a team skill) but to gain Heal XP, being in an team is not only an option; it's obligatory.

The only difference between races are :
-Starting fame with the Kami/Karavan, Civilisations and Tribes
-Base resists to spells compared to the land you're standing on.
-The choice of haircuts and face tattoos you can have. (You can buy new ones in the capital of your civilisation that aren't available at character creation.)

You can use gear from all the races, but you can only use Desert-specific mats in Fyros craft plans, Jungle mats in Zorai plans, Lake mats in Tryker plans, Forest mats in Matis plans. Basic, Fine and Prime Roots mats can be used in any race plan.

You can't purchase an appartment or a Guildhall in a Capital if you have negative fame with the Civilisation. The less fame you have, the more expensive the price you pay at merchants and lower dappers you make by selling to them. As an older player, money isn't an issue at all, but as a newcommer, you might want to consider it. However, doing missions for the city welcomer and/or corporals will give you more fame with them and should solve that problem.

There are gazillions of player guides, bits of useful info, etc... I went hunting the other day and now have 35 bookmarks from the forums alone, let alone all the other sites. Easiest way to learn anything is to ask. :P

And yes, as Sherka says; while you can certainly concentrate on magics, you'll probably want to do a bit of everything. Digging and crafting are most people's main source of income, although you can get by without, you'll just be poor (honestly that's not much of an issue though, as crafters get their dappers from selling cheap stuff which they made solely for xp; if someone needs gear, it is almost always free). Melee (or, I suppose, ranged) will help you a great deal in terms of HP, and useful abilities llike mpa and self-heals.

Yep, Silan is noob island. It is, sadly, not very representative of the game - think of it as a tutorial, not a demo. Mainland is not at all quest driven, is absolutely bloody huge, and has a lot of features Silan doesn't - the ability to learn and use ranged combat, certain actions and stanzas in all the branches which can't be bought on Silan, additional storage: and of course locations and mobs which won't stop giving you xp once you hit lvl25. ;)

Some more specific answers for your particular questions. :)
joojoo1975 wrote:do the races all start out with the same attributes?
They start out with different fame, but fame can be changed by doing missions.

Also, each race starts out with 20% protection against it's own racial spell, and +10 resistance against it's own magic domain. (Poison/forest for Matis, fire/desert for Fyros, shockwave/lake for Tryker, electric/jungle for Zorai) This stays through the entire game, though it's not much of difference. It does mean that every race needs slightly different jewelry: a jewelry set made to give a Fyros 40% protection to all magic, will give a Tryker 60% against shockwave and only 20% against fire, for example.
joojoo1975 wrote:how do you select multiple of the same kinda pack(mage, mage, harvester)
As said, this is old info. These days you only select one pack.
joojoo1975 wrote:(meaning all my skill trainings in all areas are gonna be for the mage aspect either activly or passivly)
There's not really any point to that, you'll get plenty of magic skill points alone to buy everything on the mage trainer. Training a melee skill too does give you some abilities that are also usefull as a mage (like more health), but they're all thing a melee would buy anyways, nothing 'geared' towards maging. If you want to be a mage primarily, just train and use the magic skills primarily. :)

You could ofcourse choose to be an amplifier crafter too to craft your own magic amplifiers, but it's generally not that hard to find a crafter.

Just a note of interest on HP. Any melee skill at 125 gives you access to the same HP as a magic 250 skill. In other words, if you never level your melee skills then you are shorting yourself access to much higher levels of HP.

Which would, from a purely RP point of view, only be logical, because a true mage doesn´t always swing a sword to battle his/her foes and seldom has to do more pressups than say a Hand to Hand fighter ;)
A mages nose belongs into books, not on the ground :D

Yeah, yeah I know... Atysian Magic is quite physical, but still :p
