Guess doing consumer research before making a purchase would have been the way to go~

Um, yeah I did research it, funny thing though, what was said to be in the game, simply put, isn't there. Do all the research you want, all you have to go on is what they tell you the game will have in it.

Another reason why the main forums are not accessible to the public, the information found in them would likely dissuade some gamers from buying in to the game any time soon.

Had I known on Sep 22 what I know now, no I would not have shelled out $45 or so for it. I'd have waited 6 or 8 months to see what the game would honestly be like.

Actually I was able to create a forum log in without having bought the game. And was able to locate a link to the beta boards which had all the current information/trolls/fanboi trolls posts in it.

Then again people who are looking for an easy game with minimal bugs would best look towards non-mmo games. Read any forums about any mmo and you will find trolls complaining about this and that. Just like you will find fanboi trolls harping how great the game is. And if you were to look into the dev chats (doing that research thing) you would have found where they said that this was not designed for the same audience as WoW.

It's like not liking a particular ingredient, and ordering something from a fancy restaurant that contains that ingredient without reading the course description, then proceeding to stand up and make a big announcement how you don't like the restaurant because it uses an ingredient you don't like. And how they should tell you what every ingredient is when you order it and expect the dish to turn out the exact same every time they make it.

Actually, yer logic is a bit backasswards,

All the hype for Ryzom stated this would be x-y-z.

After Ryzom ships, suddenly, oh by the way, X-Y-Z will be in patch two.

So to use your restaurant analogy.

I ordered based on what the menu said, what I actually got was not part of the descriptoin.

As for these forums being open to the public, you HAVE to have a purchased and regs a copy of the game to see these forums.

The box should have printed on it somewhere....
"these elements are not currently part of the game, they will be implemented a couple patches down the road, we don't know exactly when."

If that were so, then Nevrax would never agree to a 14-day free trial, for the same reasons you mention. No, given all of the evidence, I think one must conclude that Nevrax is being up front with it's reasons for this forum being private.

ROFL, take a look at the main forums, the geust section, that is the ONLY part of the forums that can be seen by people who do not have a current copy of the game.

For those that do not own a regs copied, this is the only part of the forums you can access...the guest area. I know because I tried to check the forums out before buying my copy back in sept.

http://www.ryzom.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=29

The above link is all the guest, or potential buyers of the game are being allowed access to.

As I have just recently checked, you can no longer create a forum acct without having registered. Around release time this was not true. So my mistake on that.

But, either way, this person is gone. If you wish to have attention drawn to yourself by posting negative unconstructive comments about why you are leaving the game, please do so. That way, those of us who enjoy the game, and accept the fact that it, like every mmo out there, is a work in progress, can share our sentiments that this is just another case of 'You are the weakest link, Good-bye'.

Yea, I know. I've been doing the same thing. I spend 70% of my time harvesting and can't keep up with my needs. And they say harvesting is too easy and nerfing it. Pffft. I'll be joining you if it is a bad as the notes say.

If one were to look up "Grind" in the dictionary...Ryzom would be posted there. On every character I crafted my own armor and or weapons. I foraged up to 50th on 4 characters...and was never able to forage the one material I longed for the most...."Fun".
So without further ado...and no melodramatic farewell speeches...see ya all in WOW. 2 weeks and counting...now I am off to get this turd deleted from my Harddrive...Cya in the funnypapers.

and if you have to go away for one min every 30 sec, then find a bigger group that can handle things on their own. that way you can go off whenever you want to...

i did alot of soloing and was then asked to join a guild, now i only log on and theres always somone in the guild that wants to group, or ill just ask global chat...

Thats plain nonsens!
I have been playing most of the mmorpg on the market, and i am mainly a solo'r because sometimes im just online for 20 minutes.
But my experience is that Groups dont like to search for a good group for sometimes an hour and to see peepz drop from it every 20 minutes.

Same with guilds, im sure that you will be the last one to group with your guildies if you are not "so familiar" with the guild population.

If you say "when your 5 minutes online you have 5 minutes to group" , well im sure that i will make MORE xp in 5 minutes solo'n then searching, joining a group in 5 minutes.

No i agree with bissa. I can nearly always find some1 to group with when im playing for a little while. 5mins is a waste because tahts how long it takes to get set up. After that though it is so much better xp and is more fun.

And i also agree taht some ppl dont like grouping and thats thier choice but personally i think it is their loss

Surely grouping has to be a major priority in any MMORPG. Nearly every enjoyable experience i can recall, in around 5 years of playing these games now, has involved grouping with other players. Whether it be slaying a big beasty, questing, pvp etc...in 6 months from now i wont be able to recall any of the solo time ive spent in Ryzom with any real pleasure at all...In terms of forcing people to group...thats a risky design decision, but a damn interesting experiment to conduct. Then again if you only have 5 minutes to play, on and off, i dont know how you could accomplish anything ingame - solo or group, especially when a good bulk of the population will move past you in lvl and ability, that only makes it more difficult to find a group and its not like Ryzom is attracting hundreds of new players daily.

Its an MMORPG, every MMORPG should be geared towards teamplay, guild and group activity by there very nature
