Many people are leaving. The devs seem to overlook some very annoying issues. Major MMOs are coming out very soon. There is some major lack of content. even the most optimistic are beginning to have their doubts(dont deny it). Its not looking too pretty atm ,is it.
Well, Nevrax spent a few years making this game, they poured their heart and soul into making this as good as possible. Release was a little early perhaps due to need of income,or to attract attention before wow and eq2 take the spotlight, who knows. Do you seriously think they did not plan ahead? that they did not know 2 major competitors go live a mere 2 months after they realease their work ? U think they intend to just throw the game into the ring, get as much cash as possible and throw in the towel ?
Sure, noone is happy about the severe lack of anything to do but grind atm, but there will be things to do implemented thru the patches . I believe nevrax have some tricks up their sleeve, they are not exactly beurocratic slobs deaf to all the player's complaints that spend all day behind a desk gobbling burgers they know what they have to do, its basically do or die, and die has a much more catastrophic effect on them than it does on the players, and they know it.
If all goes down the drain however, there is always the possibility that nevrax is bought by a major game company (i pray its not EA), and SoR will be kept on life support.
Well, just my opinion anyway . Ryzom will live..

Re: Believe in Ryzom
I for one will never touch EQ again already they are showing the have no plans on making EQ2 much differnt from 1 as far as the you must be in a group leving you looking for hours to play as well as the long downtimein battles
and WoW seems it might be good but has the whole power ranger feel to the story and roleplay. Got your undead ect I'm evial to be evial fear me i'm eeeeeeeevial!!!!!
"well im a knight and your plan will fail zorg!!!"
that and from what I've heard WoW is to be another Anarchy Online fun for a month or two than your maxed out in lvs and rdy to move on.
Ryzom does need to fix some things though. Come on guys hope to it chop chop.

I believe in Nevrax The grind isn't so bad when your having a blast with your guildmates, so I have no problem waiting this out.

Re: Believe in Ryzom
Well I don't know about WoW. I have played every game blizzard has made and have always had fun for years with some. Although, blizzard doesn't have experience in mmo's. They do have experience in storylines and making a character feel like there really doing something. However, ppl talk about graphics well graphics arn't everything. I have loved the cartoonie world of blizzard. It tells you your playing a game not trying to make things as real as possible, which I feel almost every mmo tries to do.
I have never played EQ but they do have experience in mmo's and what ppl like about them, it doesn't mean they learn from there past mistakes necessarly.
Also I never take anybodys advice on wether a game is good or not. Ppl like different things. Personally I would never play EQ because it never interested me.
AO was a great game played for 2 years and made good friends. It had a great communty and great complexity in designing your character. With a Sci Fi feel I think it was awsome something different from the D&D theme. Where its just warrior and mages, rouges. Which has been done to death by alot of mmo's.
Ryzom has its good parts. Although, it still carries the theme of D&D. I do like the harvesting and crafting aspects. It is a beautiful world but it isn't necessary for a good game. I do like the complexity of action. It still leaves me wanting. I do also like the crafting aspect of weapons and armor. If it was me though I would trade the great graphics for ok graphics and good content storyline that devolopes with the character over time. That doesn't hinder the characters devolopment by not completeing something, just gives him a different outcome.
GM support in Ryzom I rarely use but when I did use it they told me its a bug and there nothing they can do about it. So I am screwed but its cool minor setback.
In AO a bug that they new about, you reported loseing something they would take a few hours. The gm would look at the logs and see what happened and return the item if it was a bug. Happened 2 times in AO and GM's weren't the fastest but they did all they could to help.
The new AO that gave into the carebears crying about how hard it was to lvl. Yes now you can lvl a character to 200 in two weeks. When I played you would have been lucky to reach 200 in a year or longer.

Re: Believe in Ryzom
The common thing I'm hearing both about EQ2 and WoW, is that EQ2 is terrible and will only appease their diehard fans, and after an initial boom in WoW people will get over the "omgomgomg this is so cool" feelings and realize that WoW is nothing new, and then will feel sad for spending X amount of dollars on it.
I wish anyone who goes and plays them the best of luck, I hope ya enjoy it, but don't tell me I didn't warn you when ya come crawling back.

I was planning on responding with something witty, then I realized that feeding the trolls is bad, so I'll resist. Seeing as how you'll probly be banned from the boards soon, have fun with your last few hours.
