Les Bannis: our past, our future

Post by elthunim »

Les Bannis

As many of you know, Les Bannis was created during the Arispotle outage two weeks ago, to provide shelter and an English-speaking home to Arispotelians on Aniro. While it first started as a small, intimate clan, it rapidly evolved and grew, to count up to 46 members on day 2, about 30 of which were awake at the same time, doing Missions on Silan, digging, crafting, hunting, cheering.

A few Anirosians approached us with caution at first, while others offered we all migrate into their Guild to gain access to Cats. Having unanimously decided we were going to try and be self-sufficient, and to rely on our own strengths and growing skills to evolve together as best we could, we politely refused those offers. Amidst all the quick level increases, many accomplishments we made, and a few managed the trek from Pyr to Fairhaven by themselves, with levels as low as 13.

Les Bannis' dramatic enrollment figure, and most of all the number of our active members, started to make some Anirosian Guilds uneasy. Just before Arispotle came back to life, at an early time when few Bannis were awake still, our presence on Aniro was mentioned and discussed in Uni chat. I seized the opportunity to announce our presence more formally, and many blinked that Les Bannis counted 40+ Homins in just two days. We were greeted warmly, and told there was plenty enough room for us. We received offers all around, and notably for Tryker and Fyros language sessions, equipment and treks.

A few hours later, Arispotle became available again, and if a Banni comes along these days, he or she usually finds an empty guild, which obviously can't be as much fun as being able to make three full teams and hearing Homins dinging happily every two minutes.

Part of what made this a terrific experience was that, in spite of the circumstantial way in which we came together, we all found ourselves in a very active guild, and were all of very similar levels, since most of us had no previous knowledge of Aniro and started afresh on Silan. That similarity of level, combined with our numbers, and the absence of a political agenda since we knew little of the lands and could not rival with the established guilds of Aniro, made for a congenial feeling that was probably similar to the early days of Ryzom.

I have received a few calls from Bannis to try and set up a time slot to be together again and feel that pionneering spirit. I don't know how practical this will turn out to be, but if we can agree on a daily time to be at least 5-6 online during a 2-3 hour time window, and a 3-4 hour time window on the weekend to be 10-15 online, I think we might be able to recover that spirit. Note that by time window, I mean a time frame during which as many of Les Bannis would be able to connect, if only for 30mn or an hour. So the question is, what time (make all times GMT for convenience).

Regardless whether Les Bannis do have a future or not, I'd like to tell you all that in spite of all the crafting and porting you made me do, and the translations I had to make, and the constant popping of conversations from anguished Anirosians and eager Arispotelians, this was a blast for me and I do hope, with all my might, that Ryzom soon recovers to welcome thousands of Homins, to make Guilds full again and revive the Atysian spirit.

Yours yuboly,
Hekla Bannisian

Hello Hekla. I am playing almost every night after 3 p.m. GMT (8 p.m. EST), or during the week at various time of the day. Whatever time slot has the most people is the one I will try to get to. Keep me posted. :)

Looks like we'll tentatively set up a time window between 1AM-3AM GMT (8PM-10PM Eastern) during the week, and see how it goes.

See you there!

Any particular night or just an open time slot for any night of the week?

Is there any chance of continuing Les Bannis into other gaming communities.
