why indeed ?
The only things of real value you can get out of a computer game are enjoyment of the game itself, and the company of other people.
neither of which is directly limited by the lifetime or lack thereof, of the game.
For one thing, most of my guild (an established Kami guild) has, as I have said, moved to other games for a while... meaning I will get far less of the "company of other people" than I did previously. Universal was very quiet when I got online last night, as well.
And yes, enjoyment is limited by the knowledge of (for example) an impending and final end to a lifetime. Everyone knows they're going to die in real life, and they even know it could be tomorrow, but they continue living life normally anyway... unless, of course, doctors tell them they have a disease and may have only a month left to live. Then their outlook changes dramatically.
The uncertainty of Ryzom's fate does effect people and whether or not they enjoy the game. You can post links to irrelevant comic strips and make snide remarks all you please, but the fact is that people are leaving Atys like a sinking ship, and my point still stands.
The difference between you and me is that I'm willing to admit speak frankly (as opposed to grinning and cheerfully assuming everything will work out just fine in the end), demand changes, and not resort to pointless insults.
