What Ryzom is missing "constructive criticism"

Actually, the thing that keeps people pulling the handle (aside from an occasional win) is that the symbols on the slot machine almost hit the line, with the symbol randomly landing just above the line.

But you are right, the fact is that the biggest reinforcement for behavior is not a consistent reward, but as u say a random rewards.

Would be nice if there were high lvl quests where u whack some hapless boss to death and find he was guarding a cave full of ripe supreme mats waiting to be harvested, or a nice suit of shiny armor , or teh Sword of Bling Bling Gibbing...

From what I read they are intending to spice up drops a /little/ but still keep the generic drops and the onus on good crafters to do something with it.

Sirbrent, I think you're just playing the wrong game. Sounds like you'd really like EQ2 or WoW. We're playing Ryzom because we like the higher control over how we construct our characters (beyond just appearances) and to play a part in and effect a story that hasn't yet started to unfold. This is the only game I know of that's offering that, and that's why I'm here. If that's not your thing, that's cool too.

Hey elf...is that why were here....damn...i think i got this game confused with Tetris...Ryzom/tetris...dang what a stupid mistake *joking*.

No ELf I think you may have hit the nail on the head...I'm a realism freak(as much as you can get in a game)...I loved the fact that in EQ if you saw a skeleton run by with a dagger in his hand and you killed him...blam there would be a dagger in the loot...some games you fight mobs who obviously have weapons and armor but when you kill them you only get stupid stuff like bones.

Ryzom is very believable...matter of fact...i love the fact that depending on what type of weapon you use to kill the mob will determine how much and what quality mats youll get from it.

There are other things in Ryzom tho...collision detection that allows players to box in or prevent a mob from getting to a weaker character...weapons with reach...so theoretically you could put dagger fighters in the front line against a mob and pike users behind them to fight over their heads. Color coded mats that carry over to the items you make. Hazards of harvesting volatile mats. Apartments to store your stuff in. Packing animals. Intelligent mobs who use real herd intelligence. Mobs who chase after food...mobs who feed, sleep and obviously urinate. Items decay with use (yes i like this). Oh and if anyone read the rulebook, characters who grow old, and eventually die. I'm sure there will be alot of bug reports added to this forum when that starts to happen.

So what is Ryzom missing, to stay on topic ? I would like to beable to dive under water while swimming...would be nice...as a tryker anyhow.

Is this in game at the moment ? Ive never seen any differences between weapons and drops.

Oh and if anyone read the rulebook, characters who grow old, and eventually die. I'm sure there will be alot of bug reports added to this forum when that starts to happen.

This only happens if you choose to do so, by having an offspring with a partner. (that option is not in game yet)

One thing I like about this game is that dogs and insects don't drop 'coins' or 'ammo' or 'giant swords of bling bling'.

Couldn't agree more, Kaitos. I've always wondered, in other games, what *exactly* a cow was doing with 3000 gold, an Amulet of Leetness, and a Vorpal Sword of Uberness +3, and more importantly, how/where it was carrying such things. O.o
