Ryzom doesn't start (yes, I have seen the other threads.)

Post by eatsbabies »

I have downloaded Ryzom three times now. The first was from fileplanet.com. As soon as I installed and ran that one, it had the Ryzom start up thing (I think it has a pic of the lakes on it) and then it just has a black window that I cannot move my mouse across. I found the fix for the old version and applied it, but all that changed was I could see my mouse when it went across it. So I download from the Ryzom website. Same thing as when I fixed the first one. It never starts, just a black screen.

Here's a copy of my System Info, taken from DxDiag:

I'd normally be using a better system, but my other comp's fan fell off, and CircuitCity forgot to apply thermal paste to the CPU after taking of the fan and such, so it ran at half speed, when finally I had a friend pop the hood and apply it, my processor actually fried. So I popped in some of the ram and voila.

your computer should have s3 savage video card ? if yes, then you need real video card in agp/pci/pci-e slot (depends what your computer supports).
almost anything from nvidia/ati would work.

ofcourse you could try to force display driver for opengl or direct3d in ryzom configuration (located in ryzom program folder) and see it it makes any difference (and dont forget to play with other settings you find from there)

I could pop in my nVidia GeForce 7800 GT, but I asked the guy who applied the thermal paste, and he says my power supply can't run it.

I set it to OpenGL, then tried to start, so it gave me an error message concerning a lack of AGP memory. I started it in Direct3D, and it gave me the same exact problem I had before.

EDIT: FIXED- I went into display options or something and disabled a bunch of **** and now it works under OpenGL. Thanks, blaah.

EDIT TWO: NOT FIXED- I started the game, and only a few things actually HAD textures. Maybe I'll just wait until October, when I shall be recieving a MacBook Pro (wootwootz).
