Hello Zoriel and Macpete!

Welcome to our little family. As has been mentioned, the tone on the boards must be taken not too seriously. The anger seems to come and go in waves, and has been peaking a bit lately, so should hopefully go away again soon. :)

You will probably never find a more welcoming and helpful community than the one you will find in game. There are, of course, a few people who find it difficult to play nice with the other children, but they are few and generally isolated.

Please feel free to give me a /tell in game (what are your characters' names, btw?) if you have any questions or needs. In universe chat you can talk to all of us at the same time, as well. :)

Thanks.

My charachter's name will be Aristodemus (one of the two Spartan soldiers that survive after the Battle of Thermopylae, in accordance with the reconstruction of the historical period in a novel written by an Italian author). I've bought a copy of the old retail version for collection's sake so I'll probably start playing once I've received the box. I am a very casual gamer (from zero to 6-8 hours a week, a few of wich spent trying demos).

Valerio Massimo Manfredi is a star in this field, but my book has been written by Andrea Frediani (the cover of the book has been taken from the movie but there are no relationships with the movie).

Unfortunately, as far as I know it has not been translated in English ...

Hello again, my in Game Name is "Morteth" and i am always glad about someone to talk to and bomb with newbie Questions ;)

Atm i am running over the Island like a headless Chicken, trying to find different Fine Raw Materials for the Harvesting Quest Line and feel completely Lost...but i didnt loose my Patience yet ;)

Oh and btw, nice to see you in this Thread Komissar as i have yesterday read your Post in the Guild Section and must say that the Order of the Nameless seem to be a very friendly bunch and i am interested in applying to join you.

But, i didnt contact any of you yet because a) I want to feel a bit more umm...experienced before joining a Guild and b) I want to make sure that i stay longer with Ryzom just to be fair. (i dont like joining a Guild and then maybe leave if i dont like the Game)

Therefor, prepare to get maybe a Tell from me in the Future or maybe read an Application in your Forum ;)

to the OP, I too have finished playing wow due to lack of AU servers.
I used to play an undead lvl55 warlock and an undead lvl 62 rogue.

i really liked the game though, it just became unplayable due to lagg(400ms+).

Where are the game servers? If I am in South Australia will i suffer same lag problem?

Can you tell me what i can expect to be different in terms of game mechanics?
for example....can i stealth, pickpoket and ambush type thing?

are the motion controls the same?
can i click to point and get my toon to run/walk to my target?
do mobs aggro? if so do they change this behaviours as you lvl?
can i do professions? etc etc.
will i get washed away by a flash flood?
or will i get knocked out by hail?
does the ground fall away near cliff sides?
if im injured are my stats affected?
can pickpoket mobs?
can you enchant weapons?

sorry if it seems benial, but the download has taken about 3hrs sofar and im itching to test it out.

edit: i see on http://ballisticmystix.net/?p=skilltree... that i will expect a different talent system.... interesting.

ps i also used to play neverwinter nights(all three packs) with friend over local lan. but i want the massive seamless enviroment to move in. not instanced dungeons.

Hi, i quit WoW because i had a 70 lock, 70 rogue, 63 Priest and some 40 Chars. So now i am really getting bored with it and i dont think the new announced Addon will do any good tbh. ;)

I am not quite sure where the Servers are but id guess somewhere in Europe as the game originated from France (dont kill me if i am wrong here...lol)

And i have read that you can sneak somehow and you actually gotta learn it somehow...not from a Trainer though. Not sure how exactly its gonna work out.
I cant really say much more about Skills as i didnt even reach lvl 20 in every Tree so i didnt get to see many yet ;)

Mobs aggro, yes but i didnt quite get to know how you can notice it...well...notice it before you get whacked xD

Professions yeah...you can craft Armor, Weapons, Jewelery and such.
Those you can "enchant" with Boosts and such :)

But other people can prolly give you better answers as i didnt get to play much....gotta learn for some Microsoft Exams this Weekend ><

So i am still complete newbie myself...hehe. ;)

Well there is no sneaking "skill" that you can train but just by travelling and getting acquainted with different sorts of animals you learn sneaking past aggressive ones just like you would learn stuff IRL - by experience... In prime roots (underground) no matter how high your char is you won't be able to travel far without sneaking - learning the aggro range of different animals and picking the exactly right moment :) Oh and what I often do is sneak past those predators that are "busy" attacking herbivores :)

We have some Australian players and U haven't heard any lagg complaints from them tbh.

You can not pickpocket and you can not take stuff from a defeated player... Sometimes you can't even ninja loot :) Maybe that's what makes the community so nice ;D

You can switch running\walking, controls are almost the same but you set them when you create a char.

As for falling clifs and such - no alas the world is not that dynamic...

You can choose many professions or combine them all - the character evolution is 100% free choice at any given point in game.

Many mobs aggro and many mobs can easily devour a top level player... So you have to learn aggro ranges and sneak (as I wrote above) :)

Have fun In game mate ;)
