Change of Policies: aggro dragging, spawn camping etc...

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

What do you think about the new policies?

It's hurting the community and the image of game. We must reinstall the old rules!

Just because aggro dragging hasnt happened to you, do you see it as a a policy? that should be allowed?

Yes it maybe 'war' but it is also a 'game', that 'people' 'pay' for and rules need to be instigated before alot of people get annoyed.

This is not about sides, this is not about kami/karavan or neutral, this is about the future of the game for the better, for the future of Ryzom.

And by the way, just because it can be done doesnt make it alright, for example; Just because you can punch someone in the face in real life, does it make it ok. Well it was a 'fight' so that must make it alright.

To be honest their are refs in 'war', you see it in real life, when America and British stand in to stop what is going on :)

I don't like a single one of these however I could bear to live with the first three but

4. False declarations on OPs (when not a single attacker shows up) are allowed.

Makes me want to quit the game, can those in charge really be to clueless to the harm this will cause the community, of them all this will cause the most people to quit. Organising the amount of people involved in an op defence is a pain at the best of times, but with false declarations people will be staying up all night or morning due to differences in time zones to have hours of play or real life wasted for nothing. Also as a reasonable level digger I can create an alt or several characters and basicly declare war on the vast majority of important op's all week with no trouble at all.

Sheer mindless stupidity, I'm less than impressed.

I think the real problem is that GF choose to listen to a group of malcontents over their own staff. This petition was a "living" document, meaning it was actively edited while it was still gathering signatures. Every claim in the petition was unsubstantiated and the investigations by GF found nothing of merit to them.

The petition was a lynch mob, frustration, frustration at losing an OP offensive and/or getting banned for breaking the CoC. Yet GF choose to act in the best interest of the banned, non subscribed and/or anonymous poster as opposed to their own staff and paying customers.

One would hope that now they have their own people in place, meaning that they know their GMs and their CSR's. I would suggest to GF that they listen to them, that they listen to the development plan, and forget about off-site power trips and political manipulations based on rumor and conjecture.

Let your people lead. Do not let the players run the asylum.

If they found "nothing", then its strange they did those changes then... changing forum mod, implenting control systems for GMs... If the complaints where ungrounded there wouldnt have been a need for changes, seems to me they found something tho.

Hmm and didn't they say that they now have 'new tools' to help keep a closer eye on the actions of CSR's from now on. Was this a blatant lie or was some foul play strongly suspected but not substantiated because of the lack of said tools beforehand. I don't know, this is only from that Klients meeting a while back.

Kodel.

*edit* I think I may have just repeated exactly what Ruhen just said, well maybe it's better than "I agree" :p
*second edit* I don't really agree with allowing spawn camping, aggro dragging or false declarations. Although it's a game war mechanic that can be used, I think it would just make a situation that sucks at the best of times suck even more. we don't need CSR's standing there with hands on their hips as before but this kind of allowance wouldn't be good for anyone.

Back to the topic at hand. I support the old system where a CSR was present at op battles to monitor the chat and watch for aggro-dragging and spawn camping. Declarations made solely to harass guilds - where no one comes to attack the outpost - should be forbidden and punished. Since the CSR withdrew, we have already seen a sharp rise in trash talking and foul language in region chat at some op battles.

As for trash talking and foul language in region chat. I found this really only happens after the battle has been won or lost. For the last few battles as soon as it has been decided I just get the hell out of region and carry on with what I am doing, it works a treat :)

I don't post often in here - normally its just not worth it.

But i think this is a mistake, to remove the reins and let the horse run free ummm rarely a good idea.

I go to the wars because i have fun i fight for the kami against the kara but still some of you are my firends, i rez anyone Kami/neutral or kara if i see them on my wondering around the jungles and desert.

I always hope i am seen as a honorable chap and well to me (and honor is always a point of view) i don't like these new "permitted" rules and will never use them on anyone.

As others have said there are always some that will any means to gain a victory so lets expect someone somewhere to use these rules to there advantage but here i will state that i personally never will.

All i can see that this will do is cause alot of verbal abuse in Region chat which spoils any fun that is gained from OP wars.

I only hope that GF actually sees what is said here and says "hang on guys, maybe the our paying customer wants us to be there and wants rules set in place to protect us" yes there are days we need to be protected from ourselves.

The last few wars we have had alot of verbal abuse in region and if the CSR's where there we know this would not happen.

I for one only hope they return

Kind Regards all
