Traveling to the mainland.

Post by redstapler »

Since you folks where so responsive and helpful on the question of armor, I have another query.

I've been thinking about leaving the Ruins of Silan, and heading to the mainland. It's my understanding that you get to choose what capitol city you start in. Unfortunately, having never been to the mainland I don't know what would be the best for a Mage/Harvester at relatively low levels. Also, as I've been told that it is nigh unto impossible to travel from one region to another without quite a production being necessary, I don't want to start in an area that would be overly detrimental to my health and not be able to go elsewhere. :)

The people I've asked in game have all been very helpful, and full of advice, but unfortunately some of said advice has been conflicting and I'd just as soon get as much information as possible before making this decision. So that's why I'm asking here. Hopefully someone can help me make a little more sense of the pros and cons of each region.

Thanks in advance!

The desert is probably the easiest to starting off harvester's. You can pretty much become a master harvester without ever leaving a cities limits/guards.

I concur with the Tap.

Desert is easymode. Lakelands has lots of water to run to. Jungle I can't make up my mind on, some patches easy, some a bit rough. Forest maybe the hardest, but not that bad once you get the hang of it.

It depends on how hard you want to be challenged. Don't forget the mainland is still full of friendly, helpful people and has plenty of vets to give advice wherever you end up.

Good luck! =)

I would say the jungle isn't a bad place to harvest in, there are some really peaceful and serene areas where you can harvest.

But I am not sure if I would go to the jungle unless you are a Zoraï, yes I'm old school hehe

It really depends on where your friends will go, doesn't it?
I understand that was the reason to make all capitols available to all races, because of the hardships during a travel to any other nation.

The most populated capitial in my eyes in fairhaven in the lakes, usually always people about that are helpful, the problem thou is the lakes is quite isolated from rest of atys.

If you start in the desert you could solo trek your way to the jungle and to the forest with a bit of practice (will max dp but you will learn how to sneak and the dp wont be hard to work off).

On a side note i would recommend you to work mainly on your meele when you come to the mainlands, it be the easier to level up then elemental at 1st sense it very independent while nuking is very dependent. Also the meele skill will give you more hit points then you would get from elemental which will help you alot as well.

i would say the desert is best if your starting for the first time. number of advantages,
- easiest to solo in (which at low levels you will find yourself doing that a bit),
- good harvesting
- it has dyron when it comes to crafting
- easy to get to other regions from there
- good place to learn to sneak

\o/ Lake lands \o/

Safest to travel in (matis land is the hardest to travel in cause of its high agro population) .

Loads of safe places to dig high Quality mats Right next to the TP so its no problem to get to

Easyist place to level in from 0-200 mobs that give max xp (3k or 6k with cats) for little to no chance of death

Highly populated loads of homins around (and willing) to help.

Very little agro population (once again matis land is the hardest to travel in cause of its high agro population).

looks amazing

Nice market for low and high level weapons jewels armor ect.

I am there :)

Dispite the common rep, for having to swim every where. You only need to swim some where once, just buy a tp when you get there and you never have to swim there again (unless you forget to buy a new tp and run out). I rarely have to swim any where 2 or 3 times a week max.

I'm old school. I say go to your racial capitol and interact with your people before venturing out to the rest of Atys.-Kilgoretrout

I am old fashioned and would say stick with you racial starter land and work from there, there is good and bad in all lands.

Having said that would pick out two points too agree on from the posts above desert probably easier from a foraging point of view and lakes maybe from a young squishy mage pov cos of the water to dive into.
