Welcome to Atys, pivoljub :)

You can wear and use items of other race plans without disadvantage.

Press 'B' I think, to show your Action Progression window. There you can see the level you have achieved in each skill. At first there are just 4 branches, but these split into more specialized branches at 21 (except for forage), and you'll see further specializations at 51 and 101.

There's no going back to the Ruins of Silan once your character has left for the mainland, so be sure to try your hand at everything and finish every training mission.

After starting it is always good to explore! Try to stay alive but don't worry when you get killed :D A little fun and excitement is worth far more than the little experience debt (DP, or death penalty) you get for dying. Oh, and Ryzom stops keeping count of further debt when you have died 10 times without clearing it.

You can buy items from the NPC traders in the Rangers camp, but ignore the NPC Items. Player made items are almost always much better. Best thing is to ask around and find someone to make something specially for you - most crafters would be very glad to do this ;)
