an impressive list; but I'm sure that slashdot has more than the half of the clicks by himself of all that list.

You know, usually the people have all that sites liked, and even when the new appear in all of them, don't make the click more than once, even if thew post in some of them.

Moreover, this is more a free soft news, so the most people interested in that is slashdot people.

BTW: Is Menéame, not Menéme :)

I can't imagine the freeryzom website requiring so much bandwidth and so many hits at once that it would make the website slow. There can't be that many people busting down their website right now. And even if you pay with your own money, there are quite a number of hosts out there that offer shared hosting for very cheap with very large bandwidth.

I've heard mixed reviews about them, but at the very least there is a place like GoDaddy that I doubt could be "slashdotted" really...

No, it really isn't afaik. And considering the fairplay and whatever other agreements you make when you use virtual servers, you can't use 100% of the cpu anyway.

Anyway, since you seem to know oh so much about all that stuff, I'd like to see you handle a server with high cpu usage.

And, by the way, you're starting to get quite boring, always repeating the same stuff over again without any proof.

little sidenote: the power of the system in this case is largely irrelevant. the main problem lies in unsuitable software that was used to set the site up with as low dela as possible, but does not scale well to high usage.

most ever visitors to the forum was 32, i`m guessing the total browsing the site at any one time was never greatly higher than that. Hardly the internets most popular site, its just crappy server.

Do not misunderstand my words, the vast majority is surely, and wisely, not taking any position only hoping ryzom will survive whatever may come.

ps: As for the "so wrong quote" not only is it right but I suppose you talk better french than frenchies*... No I won't say "got you there", 'cause we are not playing a game.

*and please do remember that it is an international effort too, just look at the forums, for you are welcome there.
That didn't even make sense.

if you started a project like this on an insane timeframe, where would lie your priorities, a kickass web presentation, setting up a business proposal, mobilising as many supporters as possible, talking to lawyers, OS peopl, press etc... ? Most business setups take months, not 1 week.
these "arguments" are getting ridiculous.

Yes! It was a mistake to send the message to about a hundred persons ( far less than the player database ;) ).
But it is the mistake of one man and this is a communautary projet so will you please use valid arguments instead of camping behind this one?

Thanks.

ps:
Btw if people here didn't already know the csr supporting jolt here I guess they can make a few guesses from the people posting on this topic ^^. Please do renember we are all here to support ryzom. Jolt is not that bad there objective are clear: money not animation. And they ( well the volunteer ) are good at support, we expect just more than support and cheaper, is it that wrong? And making money from the work of volunteer can't be wrong, can it?
I hate to break this to you whom ever you are, but the theft of emails and then Spamming said stolen emails is against the law inthe U.S. and the U.K. and probably at least a few other countries!! Had it been my email that was stolen and then spammed I would be speaking to a lawyer to see what could be down about it!! So IT IS a vaild arguement not to mention that it shows IMHO that this little "buisness venture" of thiers was started dishonestly and what's to say that they have really had a change of heart and are going to do good? I was always told if it looks too good to be true then it probably is!!

To answer your second question about CSRs! I am no CSR and most of if not all of the people that speak out against this little joke are just concerned players like myself that don't wish to see thier fellow players taken advantage of during a vulnerable time!!! I'll pose a question to you! Who pulls your chain little doggie? My guess is it's Xavier or you are Xavier!! All you are trying to do is seperate a community of good hearted people with lies! If this is how you do buisness I'll have no part of this game, if you by some one in a million chance do happen to get a hold of Ryzom, and will speak out against your sham! Free Ryzom Heh I'll Bet! How do they plan on paying employees and keep servers up with no steady income? Let's see we'll run the game out of mom's basement on an old pentium 1 machine!

To all my fellow homins, if I have offended you I am deeply sorry for that, but this whole thing reeks of a sham! And to prey on people's vulnerability at a time like this is just unforgivable in my humble opinion! By vulnerability I mean the love of Ryzom, the friends made on our beautiful planet, and the hopes to still have Atys to play on in the future!
