Well, I've been a gamer since the old Avalon Hill days. I remember the first Adventure text game, and when I got the source code, in 1977!
I've played a couple of MMO's before Ryzom: DAOC, COH/COV, and a little bit of Eve. I wouldn't be able to go back to DAOC after two years there, and the COH/COV games are fun, but I already did plenty in the two years I spent there.
I loved Morrowind, and will keep fiddling with Oblivion; and I loved Baldur's Gate. So I am now playing with NWN2, it is very nice. I always liked creating stuff (made a Ring Scenario that some have played), and expect to create some scenes in NWN2.
I paid for about 12 months of Ryzom when I didn't play (from Jul 2005 to Jul 2006), just because I liked the game
I will keep an account here as long as they let me. If Ryzom goes away, I may finally code up the Wild West game I've been talking about for 5 years.
As for MMO's, if Ryzom goes away, I won't be able to play another existing MMO game. I am looking forward to LoTR Online, and PoTB, but so far have not been invited into the beta's. So, it's Ryzom or NWN2 for me, until something else comes along ....
