I think if they fixed the primary decay problem of armor and weapons for people in groups the decay system would be fixed. The primary problem being that eveyone's equipment in the group decays at the same rate depending on the ratio of whichever member of the group has the lowest level armor versus the level of the mob attacked, regardless of wether the individual that has the equipment actually used it.

To give an example if the main tank (of the group) got hit by the beast the group was fighting, his armor should decay, not the armor of every member in the group (which is how it works now).

If that is corrected then I think the decay problem will be much less. There may need to be some more tweaking but that should happen after this imbalance is corrected.

Just my 2 cents worth.

this decay rate is single handely destroying this game and its mind boggling that the devs arent jumping right on this obivous bug and fixing it NOW. I mean its ridiculous, nobody is interested in armour anymore. There is just no incentive to buy armour anymore when you have to kill mobs for 5 hours just to get anough money for one set of armour which will last you till the end of the day. Armour has become obsolete since all groups simply fight naked now. You dont need armour when you have a group of melee and mages together. As a result i've seens lots of high lvl crafters and harvesters in our region simply quit the game due to the fact that no one wants to buy their cool awesome uber armours because they simply dont have the time or money to shell out 500k every single day for armour alone.

I am a lvl 160 tank and i've stopped buying armour a week ago and ive used the money i saved from doing so to start crafting my own. I've also seen many other high level tanks doing the same. Why spend 500k every single day when you can use that money to grind your own armour crafting and make your own armour over and over again thus at least gaining crafting levels in the process rather than giving that money to strangers for armour every single day.

I'm a little confused. The decay rate goes down by the difference of the player's lowest Q vs. the monster's level? Or high monsters just take a chunk out fast depending on what type they are? In otherwords:
If everyone had Q200 equipment and fought Q200 monsters (no matter what type)would this still be a problem?

If it has to do with equipment Perhaps just grouping with your clan is the answer. I've given out a few things to my clan that I could have sold, but it's in my own best interest to help them and for them to help me. Some of the bigger clans are going to be harder to manage like this, but you know what? it balances out because big clans have more people they'll take in to groups, more people to join their quests and help each other out....

Smaller clans of 5-25 people like mine will be much more intimate and willing to help each other out as a cohesive unit. I could have sold some swords and daggers for quite a few dappers but I gave them away. I always make things for clannies even thuogh I seldom get anything in return. The balance though, is that I have people to level with that are used to each other's styles and can form an adequate fighting force in a short amount of time.

We only group with guild members we are all over 150 using qu 110 items or so. We are killing mobs that produce 2k-2.7 or so a kill. We are playing totaly neked. Which is totaly stupid weeks after a games release.
We are all talking about moving to wow soon because nothing is being done to fix the bugs and Rats ! we have here.

I think you'll be disappointed when you find that even the all mighty Blizzard takes more than a couple of weeks to issue a patch.

They may take more than a few weeks to issue a patch but I doubt they would be so slow and utterly crazy to release their game and nerf it to pieces in the first month.

WoW is looking better and better and if that sucks then there is always EQ2. Bottom line is there are allot more options for games and hopefully they will try to add some content in the next few patches instead of driving away people.

Their prioritization of issues is already costing them a fair amount of money in cancellations (more than a few of which I'm aware of personally) and has people that confess to loving the game but so unhappy with obvious problems teetering on the brink of cancellation.

Why would I bother buying armor if its going to poof in a day. Why would I bother getting mats for armorers if im not going to bother using or buying their armor?

Besides all I need is a weapon anyway when the MOBs are blind.
Armor is pointless.

Decay rates should not be based the way they are now. They should be based on individual usage 2-hit or 2 uses = 1 Hp.

Armor should not be worn out if its not used

And, from the point of view of the crafter, i have zero incentive to want to craft for anyone else in the first place. i have been crafting more as a favor to the other players than anything else. As it stands now i cant craft fast enough to keep up with the decay rate, unless i started selling people items made with creature mats or basic and fine mats rather than all choice. And assuming the decay rate gets fixed, and people are interested in buying my items what do i need to bother selling them for? what am i going to buy? there are no drops except for special crafting materials, and really, who cares about those? Now, if i want to advance my craft for my own armor, weapons, jewelry etc, its much quicker just to harvest whatever crap mats i can pull up or quarter from critters and grind the xp to the level of gear that i need and only bother getting the real mats for my own personal use. Another issue i have as a crafter is getting lots of requests for much lower level equipment that doesnt really give me any xp to speak of, less than 100xp for a full suit of Q50 heavy armor, with the low server population having all the races divided is just silly. In Fyros land at least i just havent been seeing any new crafters coming up from newbie land to craft the q40-50-60 stuff, so i end up making low level equipment that does nothing for me except keeping from advancing my various crafts.

If decay rates weren't so sad, they would be funny!

I hope that Ryzom fully realizes that gear decay rate is a GAME STOPPER. I enjoy this game, but refuse to pay money unless I am having fun.
