Yes M'Lady, no M'Lord, oh Pleeease!!

Post by flynnkd »

God how I hate roleplayers who drop into Mlady and MLord mode, or thees and thous, or verily. Why is it that rpers seem to think the only language you can rp in is quaint old english that only every existed in movies...

There was a short GM discussion last night and I had to bite my tongue not to scream out "Its only a cardboard cutout!" (Camelot).

PLEASE, can we have real world langauges... ones adults use, with words that have correct vowel structure...

Dont mind me, I just had to get it off my chest... ya verily! (puke)

I must admit they do make me cringe when I hear people talking like this in a game.

Last night I made a Matis character and logged in to hear people talking seriously as if the game was real life, another thing that winds me up. At one point I said "crap" in region chat, and was told not to swear but to say "pants" instead heh. OMG crap is NOT swearing people, and no way am *I* saying pants, that is just SO pathetic.

Anyway, in the end I logged and went and made a Fyros character, logged in and people were so much more mature and like minded to me. Needless to say I'll be staying with this character :p

what I find really funny is when people use brackets to warn they're out of character... considering most people don't even try to roleplay; maybe they should use brackets to define roleplay instead... 90% of the region chat isnt roleplay, and isnt in brackets... :D

Don't they call it a MMO-RPG? Anyone may roleplay to his or her own preferred manner, no matter what. If you think it's pathetic (or have some other kind of judgement on it) do realise that not everyone has the same way of having fun. Maybe others have mixed feelings about people who are OOC a lot. No matter how you twist or turn it, we're all here on Atys. Might aswell accept eachother as we are and have a lot of fun ;)

Theres nothing wrong with roleplay if ppl want to roleplay. A lot of ppl like roleplay, as vaynen said this is an RPG afterall, granted an online one.

I thought the "Matis Medium Armor" thread was bad but at least it was a fair comment, (About female chars MA being too revealing) but this is just pathetic. Its like me saying I hate it when people say "teh" instead of "the" (I dont btw). I really dont see why you thought you needed to post this on a forum! Its not even constructive! JEESE!

would far rather see people roleplaying badly or in a way that just quite suit me personally than people discussing game aspects, mechanics, other games, what they watched on tv etc in region chat

I appreciate that some people just like to lvl grind and powergame and don't really care about the roleplay aspect - thats fine, you paid your money so you have as much right to enjoy this game however you want, but some of us do like to roleplay (seeing as its a MMORPG not just a MMOG)- even if its just to have a laugh rather than engage in any deep gritty discussions. I'd really appreciate it if you kept out of character stuff to /tell's so I can vaguely pretend that I am this 4ft tall skinhead lout wandering round a lakeworld hitting giants crabs to get their shells.

I'm suprised at the use of old English for roleplaying in Ryzom. Considering the futuristic nature of the setting I would have thought text-speak would be more appropriate ;)
