I was hiking in the hills; and here was a spring fed creek with pools, ferns, and small fish by the little waterfalls. I of course thought of Ryzom, and wondered: why are there no creeks in Atys?
Like the campfire animation, I just want a blue splotch in a hollow, with a waterfall or burbling spring sound.

Just think of the water holes as circular creeks. Each has a water fall and plenty of ferns.

Not many creeks or rivers, as such...but there are many ponds, waterfalls, etc. About six of the latter in the Liberty Lake region alone.
Jelathnia, Kasarinia, KianShi, Maethro, ShuaLi, and OPaxie (Arispotle)

Re: Creeks! I want creeks, with little waterfalls
This is a funny topic... creeks are relative to where you came from...
I am from Massachusetts, what we call creeks at home are rivers (seasonally) here in Texas...
Officially creeks, streams, rivers etc have a definition... typically attributed to origin... Would they exists in Atys

Re: Creeks! I want creeks, with little waterfalls
It rains in this game, and at the bottom of every canyon there should be a creek with little waterfalls. There should be small runoff rivulets coming down the hills. There should be small springs at the foot of bluffs, that burble and run down.
I'm just a simple forest homin, but in all of the lands I have seen, there is no running water, no place to listen to the sounds. I like to sit by the campfires, and listen to the crackle-pop sound
But I am coming up dry LOL
As for the word "creek", I live in Texas, and grew up in New Mexico, Colo, and Texas. I would say we have 3 words:
- draw -- just an area that gathers water. Usually broad and shallow, with a slight elevation change. Usually dry.
- creek -- sometimes are called streams; they usually have a "bed", where water has carved the land. Could be running year-round, or not. (these are also called "runs" in the South, as in "Bull Run").
- river -- just a bigger creek, and does run all year round.
I have been almost all over the forest lands, and I have yet to see any surface water of any kind. Yet I see hills and valleys, and it rains a lot.

In the forest you'll hear water in HS near the falls of course.. there are also smaller falls, south of the Kami Circle in Heretic's Hovel.. it's obscure and off the beaten path. Another in Grove of Confusion near the East Grove Workshop, this is in a well known hunt spot... Another falls also in the Bog, down south just off the path to Lagoons of Loria...olepi wrote:It rains in this game, and at the bottom of every canyon there should be a creek with little waterfalls. There are also many small water holes, with frogs and such which you can hear and see...
