Please keep in mind that Halloween is a commercial holiday of fun and celebration, and vaguely resembled the rites and rituals it is based on and or the multiple cultures it is taken from.calel wrote:Since you asked for it ...
I honestly fail to see the need to implement RL religious, national and/or commercially hyped holidays, disguised to amply fit the gameworld one way or another, just like that other game. I'm not gonna start on politically correctness on an international shard as that's whole other can of worms; I hope others won't either lest this gets ugly.
What I rather would have seen are ingame festivities and celebrations that are really relevant to the gameworld; something as the Festival of Light in Jena's name which is hosted and planned by players. I'm pretty sure there's more examples on which to expand on, things to comemorate: the Fire of Corriolis; the Exodus; the Treaty of Four People, the Force of Fraternity, Jena's Commandments, ...
So many opportunities to make the world more lively, so many opportunities missed ...
Rites, rituals, and cultures that never existed on Atys. Thus Halloween has no basis/right to exist.and vaguely resembled the rites and rituals it is based on and or the multiple cultures it is taken from.

Lots of cultures have an analogue though.katriell wrote:Rites, rituals, and cultures that never existed on Atys. Thus Halloween has no basis/right to exist.
1) is being abusive really necessary? i find your st **** u really out of order - the first time someone said that to me ingame i quit the guild i was in (a guild i started) because i couldnt believe we had recruited someone so rude. If you cant communicate without swearing its often better not to bother.acridiel wrote:Allright, you´re right that per say something like that does not have to do anything with Atys on a quasi-religious basis.
But, as with all Seasons-Events in the past:
IT´s JUST FUN!!!
IT´s JUST a GAME!!!
So please don´t get started about it making sense or not.
It´s just a week of something different.
Nothing to rant about or get angry about.
Just something to have a whee bit of different fun with our game.
So shut the **** up and enjoy yourself!!!![]()

Yes but not presented and commercialised the way american and to a lesser but more growing extent england do now. I'm not fond of commerical holidays don't even start me on how I hate christmas and would have it destroyedgrimjim wrote:Lots of cultures have an analogue though.
I tend to have some degree of aversion to anything that is plopped into the game with no lore backing (shush grimjim; I think EP2 did have sufficient backing). Honestly, Ring had no lore backing - its terminals just...appeared. But Ring is an extremely useful tool, whereas Halloween or a similar holiday is frivolous. Therefore the latter can have the brunt of my suspicion.truce1 wrote:Is it breaking what you feel is the immersion of the GAME, or does it offend your RL religion?
