Well, currently the gameplay doesn't really changes significantly at the higher lvls... Exept that your items last less time.

That review really annoyed me - not so much in what was said (though that carried some annoyances by itself), but in what wasn't said.

I agree, the reviewer didn't do his homework and left out some key elements of the gameplay. He also made some really wierd points.. Why would you comment on the lack of mob-dropped loot in a game that doesn't have it by design? As I said in my review, that's like complaining about motorcycles because they don't have 4 wheels.

Other comments illustrated a fundamental lack of understanding of the game system as well. I can't even agree or disagree because they're off-point.

He complained about a lack of experience points for completing missions - but never mentioned what you gain instead - Fame! - which definitely has as role in the gameplay the long-run.

I posted a player review (not at my best, admittedly.. sorta rushed and the spacing is wierd in some spots. That's what I get for typing it up in Notepad then copying it over...)

Anyway... I think they should have taken more time to play the game, learn more of what it has to offer and, for Pete's sake.. mention some of the key features of the game!

Ugh...

Indeed, the reviewer is quite critical, but it's not an unfair review I think. We all know that Ryzom has been released with quite some bugs and many missing features and missing content - and well, an honest review cannot keep silent about this. Thus this reviewer did his thing and wrote about Ryzom and that includes writing about a rather un-finished game, sadly.

Also, I think the reviewer didn't really like Ryzom anyway, he seems to favour games with plenty of loot and items and he didn't seem to have much interest in artwork, creativity or background story. And it seems he's one of the people that judge a game mostly in terms of how "competitive" it will be against WoW and EQ2. Ah, well. ;)

Lupine, to be perfectly fair, alot of the poor reviews, including this one, are because of a horrid lack of documentation for this game. Reviewers don't exactly have a ton of time to figure things out and a "basic understanding of the game" isn't something that's easily obtained, ESPECIALLY in this case.

I've been playing for a few days now, and it's simply hard to grasp exactly how much is missing in basic gameplay explanations. I spend a good bit of time asking what basic things mean or do because they're not written ANYWHERE. Now substitute me with someone who neither has the time nor inclination to get deeply involved, and you have a bad combination.

Was the review fair? I think so. SoR has a ton of potential, and I enjoy it. However, there are a ton of things that are completely confusing or even mind-boggling. SoR will continue to be a victim of such reviews until they manage to give these guys some information to work with.

Wow guys stop being such fanbois. IGN offers the best reviews out there. I agree with the guy 100%. 6.9 for gameplay is just about right.
