GM's Can they....

Post by bra1ndg »

....Stop spawns from occurring when they port in somewhere?

So, there we were killing Timmehs in FF. After a bit, a GM Turns up to action someone's request. While the GM was there we finished off the spawn, and for some reason they didn't respawn, even 5/10 mins after GM left.

Is this right?

(I have a sneaky suspicion the season changed though, but can't be 100% sure... would be a coincidence if it was a season change while GM was there :D )

As far as I know, they may have special powers, but unless there is an event or any other reason to act, they tend not to mess with players experience  . I would also believe from previous official communications that CSRs must follow a certain procedure and obey a given set of rules given by Nevrax...

I am guilty as well (specially at the game early stages) of thinking that GMs had acted in some way.("the mob came from nowhere, it was a GM!"... "BAh the GM spawned the kinchers on us, they never pop here")... most of the times (if not all) it was purely unfounded... afaik, there are no "conspiracy theories" and GMs have other things to do rather than "have fun" at the expenses of players :P (aaaaalthough, not 100% sure)

Except exceptional reasons (AI bug, server reboot, etc.) which are less and less frequent, lack of mob spawn is usually caused by a stalled mob of the group that has not been killed, although there are cases where it is just the effect of the seasons, etc. dynamic world. This can be seen as a Good Thing (TM) unless, of course, the group was on a HuntSession (TM)

Seem to remember an official post by Souls or Marjo along the lines of CSRs physically not being able to make mobs spawn in abnormal locations (except in events obviously) - we can probably assume that this would include not being able to affect the mechanics of the spawn except in similar situations, tho thats a complete guess. At any rate I don't think I've ever seen it, and as Ani says there are plenty of other reasons why it could have happened :)

Personally i think we happen to change season..

There were deffo no other timmehs about, infact you had to run about 75m to get one from other spawn, nor where there any lying around that required looting.

Was just wondering incase they had some Aura, that protects them from being hit/die by/from beasties.

Well, I've never seen a CSR die from a mob they weren't trying to die by, but thats different to stopping them spawning ;)

I seem to recall hearing of a yuboball tournament in Windermeer when it seemed that the local yubos had caught wind of the event and nearly all had run away  The guides were powerless to bring the yubos back against their will that day.
