you sure bout that? did they change it from the start as its a long time since I mastered ele but I remember the good old days when I was a little more noob than I am now. My harvest was alot higher than any combat level I had and my dodge matched that levelsehracii wrote:Harvest does not contribute to dodge mod. Your base dodge = your highest *combat* level. Dodge / Parry
Re: Dodge / Parry
Re: Dodge / Parry
That's, imho incorrect. Harvest does affect dodge. IIRC (unsure about the exact details), or at least it used to be like this for a long while.sehracii wrote:Harvest does not contribute to dodge mod. Your base dodge = your highest *combat* level. (Any fight or magic)
dodge = max (fight, mage, harvest / 2, 0.25*craft? although it was stated by a GM around release date that craft did not affect it)
I never knew someone with a highest craft so we could not verify.

Re: Dodge / Parry
Right, sorry, I forgot harvest works, just cut in half.
Which means harvest based dodge never goes over 125.
That's pretty useless, imo, if youre trying to dig in a 250 zone. Should just give it to you straight = harvest lvl.

Re: Dodge / Parry
Isn't parry capped at 300 or something? I heard that somewhere...
Re: Dodge / Parry
no, you can have over 300 parry. Least you could before the RoS patch, but doubt they've changed thatamitst wrote:Isn't parry capped at 300 or something? I heard that somewhere...

Re: Dodge / Parry
Been trying to understand parry a little and i think I found out how it works...iphdrunk wrote:I may be wrong but as far as I know, dodge and parry stats for 1h weapons are not implemented (0) but your point stands anyway
Cannot answer what is best as per Op , can just give u my findings...
Basic parry naked: basic parry naked (or with LA or HA with no parry boost is egal to your lower melee tree...
Exple: im 80 cc , my basic parry is 80, i take axe with no parry mod stats, im 250... try it with any other weaps 1h and 2h, your parry will be same as the lvl of the weap used..
NOW: who get more parry?
knowing that 1 h weaps parry mods are no implemented isn't enough: i have 250 in axe 2h and wield a axe 2h with no parry mod, i will be 250 parry (+19 sword, i will be 269 naked wielding the sword..)
Now, if i am 250 spear, cc, mace or whatever in 1h, as 1h stats are not implemented, i will be 250 parry with no boost from weap, but if I wield old land shield +34 parry, i will be 284 wielding no weap...
So basically fighters mastering 1h will have higher parry than 2h fighetrs, not due to weap, but due to shield...
Try it with any weaps u can wield and pls let me know if im wrong

To protect and to rez, never to serve. Crafta of da weapa

Re: Dodge / Parry
it's not lowest melee skill, parry is based on you weapon you have in hand. if you have no weapon, then it's Hand to Hand which is Close Combat tree (no, pick is not weapon sadlygillest wrote:Basic parry naked: basic parry naked (or with LA or HA with no parry boost is egal to your lower melee tree...

yes, 1h+sword has highest parry i think (keeping skill/armor same).. but they do less damage too.
not sure this is right but: 2h sword has 20 parry (24 boosted ?). player crafted shied has 30 parry.

It's not because its taking your "lower" melee tree exactly. Your base parry is just always equal to the melee level of the weapon you are currently holding. If you're not holding a weapon, it's that you are in hand-to-hand melee mode, so your parry is equal to your level in hand-to-hand combat. IF you got H2H higher than 1H melee, it would still be base parry, not the lower 1H level.
Edit: hehe, too slow.
Oh, and yeah, 1H get higher parry value. What 1H is also lacking though is "adversary parry" mod- in a 1H vs a 2H duel the 2H melee weapon raises the wielders parry at the same time it decreases their opponent's (1H meleer) parry, combined it basically eliminates the shield parry bonus altogether.....
