Another Noob :)

hey all! reading through some of these forums i get a real sense of community here...i just recently decided to try to unlimited free trial and was immediately impressed with the beautiful and well done weather and scenery here...I currently play EQ2 and fear that i may actually like this game! LOL I have alot of time invested and can only afford one monthly game payment! bah! But beyond the pretty scenery i noticed more that i have only met nice people, helpful people. Perhaps its because the community is small and close...Not at all like EQ2 where if it were possible another character would chew off your arm at a moments notice without even a second thought. So far im completely impressed with this game and the GM's invovlment with its players and the helpful nature of the paying customers.

Very very true. I remember when I tried WoW for the first time (only ever got as far as level 15 as the whole thing just seemed like a treadmill). Anyway, I was about level 2, running about in my underpants killing stuff with my penknife and I asked in the chat how I receive mail, only to be told 'LOL, n00b'. Well, d'uh.

In contrast Ryzom seems to be full of people only too willing to help, chat etc. Maybe this is down to the relatively non-competitive nature of the game and the open-ended approach to content that filters out those without much imagination who are only concerned with being more 'uber' than others, while being hand-held through the game.
