Hi all,
I've re-subscribed. Apparently, the old starting areas are still around because my character seems to not be on the new Isle.
I'm hoping I can still level-up and progress the same on the old island. It's strange, I didn't think those areas existed anymore.

Perhaps a GM can teleport you to Silan so you can do the new player stuff there?

I'll just wait and see what happens. I'm enjoying the solitude for a bit while I figure things out.
Can you veteran players still go to the old starting areas like you used to? Reason why I re-upped instead of create a new character is a vet player gave me a sword that *really* helps with combat. Now I can kill a Yubo instead of the other way around

Which is a big reason why you will/can/should not be moved, unless you were born on Silan you will not be able to visit it... Once you leave, be sure you have done all you wanted there with that charcter.nesrem wrote:a vet player gave me a sword that *really* helps with combat. I'll just hang out here for a bit. The game is a little overwhelming at times, trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do.
Thanks for the reply.
Re: So I re-subscribed...
I'd bet you dappers to donuts that the coolio sword you got on the old newbielands isnt any better or even not as good as the axe and swords you get for finishing missions from the fighter mission giver on ruins of silan.
Also, if you're overwhelmed, you might want to start a new toon on silan, if only for the tutorials that the missions provide and having folk around to ask questions when you get confuddled.

Re: So I re-subscribed...
Yeah, you're probably right. But I'd hate to waste all the skills I've achieved so far on the old island. I hate re-doing work. I'm coming from WoW where I have re-rolled characters many..many...times doing the same old quests. That's one of the reasons for coming back to Ryzom.pugmak wrote:I'd bet you dappers to donuts that the coolio sword you got on the old newbielands isnt any better or even not as good as the axe and swords you get for finishing missions from the fighter mission giver on ruins of silan.

Re: So I re-subscribed...
I so hear ya on that lol.
But, it is worth just a peek at the new newbie lands. Even if just to run around and check it out. They did a pretty good job.
Also, the leveling on the new newb island seemed much quicker to me than the old islands.
Not trying to tell ya how to play or what to do, just... well...not minding my own business, I guess lol.
Also, if you do pop into the new island for a look see, check out the "ranger" medium armors. Those are pretty dang sweet for what they are.

Hey, I appreciate the suggestion, don't worry about it.pugmak wrote:I so hear ya on that lol.

I used the trial time before I re-upped with this account. So I did look at the island for a little bit.
I'll probably just create another character on this account now and check it out some more.
Thanks.
Re: So I re-subscribed...
I guess what I been trying to say here, maybe...is kinda sorta this:
When I played on the old newbie islands, even during beta and at launch when they were well populated, the newbie islands felt very much like a place to just get through so you could move on.
When I played the new newbie islands, I had a blast. I enjoyed running around there as much as I enjoy running around on mainland. It also felt like much faster leveling and my characters come off the new newbie island much better prepaired than what used to be the case for me.
I've got alts, recently off newbielandia that out rank my main that crossed over prior to the RoS and have better armor, weapons.
But the main thing, for me at least, I really did enjoy doing the RoS thing much more than the previous newbland.
