Hey guys,
I have some fast questions to ask all of you. Currently I am playing the free trial so these questions relate to the mainland.
1. In the cities are there buildings you can enter or are they more like static displays?
2. Are there caves or dungeons to explore or is everything above ground?
3. Are the roots that I see in the sky explorable at some point?
Thanks
Three fast questions.

Re: Three fast questions.
All cities have buildings you can enter, although like most buildings they are pretty static and don't do a lot of moving around.allanb wrote:1. In the cities are there buildings you can enter or are they more like static displays?
Each capital is different, though the secondary cities are similar.
Pyr -- Has dusty alleys where you have to clutch at your dapper purse and grand (but still dusty) halls, a forge where it's hotter inside than out, and baths where you can moisterize your dry skin, and a bar where you can moisterize your throat.
Fairhaven -- Long plank streets connect buildings built mostly underwater. Many poor yubos spend their entire lives in wheels pumping out the water in these damp basements.
Yrkanis -- The Matis cannot build freestanding buildings, but instead live in hollowed out trees showing both their contempt for the living planet, and the lowly state of their technology. Their vendors and trainers stand around outside in the rain.
Zora -- Grand temples and civic buildings are interspersed with small shops where both the buyer and seller can conduct their business out of the rain. The trainers have small kiosks out of the weather although the trainee's have to stand outside with the bartender. Hint, train before visiting the barkeep.
The prime roots and kitin's lair are below, the rest is open to the sky.allanb wrote:2. Are there caves or dungeons to explore or is everything above ground?
What you see above are the branches or canopy of Atys. Roots are below. You didn't grow up on a farm did you? There is one area in the lakelands where you can explore the lowest level of the canopy.allanb wrote:3. Are the roots that I see in the sky explorable at some point?

Re: Three fast questions.
1. You can go into some of them as a group, such as the theatre in Pyr. Others such as apartments can only be accessed by yourself.allanb wrote: 1. In the cities are there buildings you can enter or are they more like static displays?

2. Caves, yes. Dungeons, not really. There are however things like Kitin Nests that are sort of inbetween the two.
3. Not yet. There have been hints from the devs that they will someday be accessable, but so far, they're just for looks.
There are no instances, but there are places out of the cities that tend to be pretty populated. The Void in Zorai lands tends to be popular with higher level players (170+) while Kipee Mull near Min Cho tends to have a lot of the mid range players (80-150ish)Are there many places in the outdoors that are part of a map that people go into?

Re: Three fast questions.
Thanks guys for the fast answers.
Is there a place where I can find some screen shots of the cities and caves? The main website here seems to lack those pics (or maybe I am not just looking at the right place).
Edit - Never mind. The screen shots I wanted are indeed on the main website. Guess I am blind.

Re: Three fast questions.
Hahaha, pretty good twist, but not very accurate..
We are one with the intelligent plants (okay, that part of the lore didn't see fruition, but the towns were designed then), and found a way to use them without harming them. Thus our glorius cities are build in and amongst the trees without harming them. Notice the lustrious blooms and canopy remaining on them all.thurgond wrote: Yrkanis -- The Matis cannot build freestanding buildings, but instead live in hollowed out trees showing both their contempt for the living planet, and the lowly state of their technology. On the other hand, do you think these large temples and shrines were made with "silly goo". The lands were ravaged so you could sate your false gods. This is the grandest example of exploiting the lands for nothing more than flourishment. No wonder you wear a mask, you want to hide the shame you should feel.thurgond wrote: Zora -- Grand temples and civic buildings are interspersed with small shops where both the buyer and seller can conduct their business out of the rain. Ripping this out of your IC context if you don't mind.vguerin wrote: We are one with the intelligent plants (okay, that part of the lore didn't see fruition, but the towns were designed then), and found a way to use them without harming them. It seems only to be found piecemale, but it is clear that Matis culture heavily depends on genetic engineering and botanism. They call themselves the Atysian Master manipulators of plant and animal life. Towns, houses, armors and weapons, even simple household items are living things, engineered with a purpose.
Ofcourse this is not without it's dangers as the lore on Silan shows; the plants needed for construction turned against them.
Matis botanism
Seen from a Matis point of view there is nothing wrong with manipulation of these lifeforms as they all serve their function in daily life and it gives the Matis the sense of elevating their souls nearer to godliness. (Not to certain at this point if the lore here means Jena or if it is deducted from a deeply rooted but now 'almost' forgotten Matis myth of creation by the Great Progenitor and his Great Work)
Seen from a Kamist point of view it would ofcourse be a horrible thing to do as they would see this kind of manipulation being in direct conflict of Ma-Duk's great scheme for Atys, as it is not as (s)he has it intended. I think the idea of Matis botanists and genetic engineers 'harming' the fauna and flora only would fit if seen from this side.

Re: Three fast questions.
There are no gods, there are only Kami and Karavan. In any case, Zora was founded well before the Ma-Duk heresy took hold.vguerin wrote:The lands were ravaged so you could sate your false gods.
Yrkanis was founded where King Yasson's arrow fell (talk about primative technology). Zora was founded on at a location based on the lessons of the great swarming. Built in hollows within the bark, Zora and the other Zoraï cities have narrow entrances easily defended. Where walls trapped many of the residents of ancient Zoran, the new cities have multiple exits to different zones.
Yrkanis was placed with no stragetic thought, with it's back up against the edge of the continent. The mighty walls of Zoran were breached by the kitin swarm. Do the Matis expect the sticks they place around their cities to protect them?
