..introduce myself!
So, I've been playing EQ2 for a bit now! It's a decent game with a decent community. (decent, decent, decent...) The only thing that is keeping me playing that game is a GREAT guild I've been playing with, love 'em to death. So.. I heard a couple things about Ryzom that interests me.. and I'm going to give it a whirl and then see if I can get one or two to come with me. If I like it..
Got a some questions though:
- If you can keep investing your play time into an unlimited amount of skill-ups in the various skills: Why would you play more than one character? (I guess you don't?)
- So when you make a group, (you have grouping, right? ) what determines who you get? It's not class obviously - is it just what they say they are good at?
- Probably a question asked a couple times from other new guys: Are there any types of Raid forces, or "multi-grouping"?
- Is solo just as effective and grouping up?
- Is there many built-in guild features?
Thanks for your time, see you in-game!
Allow me to..
Re: Allow me to..
Welcome.
I have four alts for RP reasons. I love experimenting with various character concepts, and challenging myself to roleplay things that are very different.- If you can keep investing your play time into an unlimited amount of skill-ups in the various skills: Why would you play more than one character? (I guess you don't?)
Jelathnia, Kasarinia, KianShi, Maethro, ShuaLi, and OPaxie (Arispotle)
TeiJeng (Leanon)

long-distance communication | some foods and drinks | Zoraï pictograms

So I'll take a shot at your bunch of questions... only my experience and opinion:
As katriell said, for role playing/experimenting/diversity...
Nevertheless, I hope you like what you see. Welcome to Atys, enjoy your stay!

Usually, you don't have all skills at equal levels, so one player is a better fighter, another more of a mage, or a healer... not having classes doesn't mean all characters are equally trained in every aspect. Teaming has many aspects - training up lower skills, taking on stronger adversaries, having fun with people you don't already know, you name it...kuleon wrote: - So when you make a group, (you have grouping, right? ) what determines who you get? There are no "raids", you have teams cooperating at events or treks around the plan(e)t, or whenever there are more players than the team size allows (9).kuleon wrote: - Probably a question asked a couple times from other new guys: Are there any types of Raid forces, or "multi-grouping"?
No, but it's perfectly doable.kuleon wrote: - Is solo just as effective and grouping up?
Ouch... that's a bit of a sore point. IMHO guilds could use a lot of dev-time... with regards to management, guild hall features, guild missions etc.kuleon wrote: - Is there many built-in guild features?

Another Homin's Take: To relive the joy of starting a new char when the "old" one gets boring/frustrating/stagnate/...
