Allocate Memory

Post by crabpaws »

Help needed. Can't find solution on/off Ryzom forum.

"The driver has failed to allocate AGP memory. This may result in performace nad display issues."

I don't understand how to change my allocate memory. It doesn't help turning down the graphical settings either. [EDIT: Changed it from 64 to 128 - and the speed I believe, from 4 to 6.]
I played the game back in the BETA version with a much older computer than this - thanks to some heavy editing in the setting file - however it doesn't seem to agree with this computer.

Specs:

AMD Athlon 2000+
GeForce 4mx
1.66Ghz
256mb RAM [Believe it's DDR .. should be anyway.]

from main page:

Minimal
Windows 98SE/2000/XP
Pentium III 1Ghz or equivalent
512 MB RAM - 4x CD-Rom drive or higher
Nvidia Geforce 2 or equivalent video card with 64 MB RAM
DirectX 8 compatible Sound Card
Internet connection with 56k Modem
5 Gb free Hard Disk Space

Recommended
Windows 98se/2000/XP
Pentium IV / Celeron 2Ghz or equivalent
512 MB RAM - 4x CD-Rom drive oor higher
Nvidia GeForce 4 TI or equivalent, with 128 MB RAM
DirectX 8 compatible Sound Card
Internet connection with ADSL or Cable
5 Gb free Hard Disk Space

advice get yourself some more ram (memory ;) )

256 is bare minimum to run anything nowadays, XP hoovers up most of that, and with vista arround the corner asking for 512 minimum and 1 gig prefered, i`d suggest you get atleast 512 more memory to cope with forthcoming programs etc that are coming out nowadays, trust me you wont regret forking out the £40

i used to play with a Geforce4mx, have since upgraded to a geforce 6200. but the geforce 4 did work for quite a while. I agree with kiexa on upgrading the 256 memory that you have now, i used to run on 512 and since upgraded to 1G and the game runs oh so much better.

in short i think your memory might be your problem, another 512 wont cost too much and it really is an easy install.

I used to get this problem periodically throughout beta. My solution (if i remember correctly) was to change graphics drivers, sometimes having to revert to an earlier driver version.
(I had a Geforce MX card also, and 512k of ram)

make sure the checkbox in the ryzom configurater is checked that says "use agp" or something similar to that.

Well I'm not too sure but check in your system BIOS whether AGP memory is set also altering the frequency may help too. Be warned that playing around with BIOS settings as it can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.

Also your system specs are just fine, my cousin used to play on a similar system.

Pentium 4 1.72Ghz
Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 64MB
256MB DDR RAM

Other than his show connection he used to tell me that he experienced no problems.
