no-one is trying to pin things specifically on anyone- hell ive killed people, but its slowly becomming boring, and people are leaving as a direct result of pvp- infact most people i know who have left will blame pvp (yes its pvp's fault!) and hell even im gunna try going cold turkey as soon as i have the courage to through my PC out the windowrundll32 wrote:Its not nice - but its not anti social

Re: Outpost switching
please think about it, we not saying the 3 ppl you have killed will leave, but it is upsetting for them and your thinking 3 ppl wont make much difference, but i think you'll find you wrong, example, if there was 10 ppl like rundll doing this constantly thats 10 x 3 ppl, thats 30 ppl upset and considering leaving, the numbers dont take long to add up.rundll32 wrote:Its not nice - but its not anti social

ps. i am not saying rundll is a bad person, but since most of the postings made about the attacking foragers here have been about rundll i only used you as an example

Re: Outpost switching
No worries pos
Im speaking for the pro pvpers who have given up arguing to be honest - those that I will shortly be joining as these threads dont go anywhere.
The argument seems pretty simple to me. If you dislike being killed - and/or it genuinelly upsets you/aggravates you then dont dig in a place where you can be killed. As far as im concerned half the challenge of digging in PR is avoiding the aggro mobs - and the aggro homins. If you genuinelly cant stand it - and think that pvp is ruining the game etc - dig PR in the non pvp zones. It really is that simple. As it stands if u dig in a pvp area and someone comes and kills you then call for some backup - there are always plenty of people who would happily go and support a ganked digger. Ive done it enough times myself. The anti social side of killing PR diggers is the amount of swearing i get sent my way in private msgs
anyway regardless - im done now on the forum relating to pvp so dont expect me to rise to anything else. Take care - have fun - watch your radar - and if u see me call Yaffle

But you don't listen to logic or reason (or compassion) so don't even go there.
Stick to fighting tagged people, no problem then. You still haven't said why that's an apparent impossibility.

Re: Outpost switching
hmm (STILL don't agree with killing diggers) Not alot of people tag up..For many reasons(Not wanting the posible flame..or..not wanting to make enemies for there guild for there actions alone.)its pretty annoying that some people take things to seriusly wich is why I don't(or rarely) tag up anymore...

Re: Outpost switching
My take is because lately there ain' t enough players tagging up these days because they are tired of getting shot themselves, especially when they just wanted those few precious 5 seconds of peace to grab something from their packer or craft a new skirt, even when detagging costs you like 30 seconds anymore.grimjim wrote: Stick to fighting tagged people, no problem then. This is not me having a go at known people having a go at 'defenceless' crafters/foragers/traders at the stables or people venturing down the pvp zones in the roots; but rather a view that the current implementation of PvP without gameplay consequences in the game is more a perfect breeding ground for PKing rather than the oportunity to have honorful tests of skills.
Perhaps relaying action-consequences to RL examples may be a bad idea as Atys and it' s different cultures function very differently, yet you can not claim that there' s no laws, rules or codes of conduct that aren' t upheld or at least written down somewhere (to be divulged to the public soon(tm)). Pain, suffering and mortality have their place as well on Atys even though some may claim it' s not. We have excerpts of a Matis embalmer, tales of the Seed of Life failing, a Governor shot by a deadly weapon, etc etc... From an RP pov we should by now all be warrry of fighting or venturing outside the 'safe havens' of our cities; who knows when our Seed would fail us? This gift from the Powers does not seem to be flawless. When does your luck end?
Hence it seems rather plausible that even societies on Atys would regarding assaulting, maiming and murder as hinious crimes when not in an official state of war (not going here as far as to expect there would be a sort of Geneva convention on Atys, so all should be fair in times of war). Which brings me back to consequences; consequences to starting brutal fights in cities, under the eye of the city guard who are supposed to uphold the law; if only the guards would already react on skirmishes..., if people who initiate attacks would loose regard to the race of the city or town they start a fight in or loose regard with the race of their victim if he/she turns out to be a well-liked individual (high civ fame from being a Citizen), ...
Just my two dappers.
