Again with the threat to leave if we don't play the game your way. You'd almost think the "declare war" button was a bug and not the intended way of using these outposts. It's like playing a board game like Stratego and then being accused of bad sportsmanship because you tried to win.
You tell people not to take it personally, but frankly lets look at what the declaration says. It says "me and my friends are gonna try and take what you and your friends have. If we have to kill your characters for it a few times, so be it." Can't really get much more personal than that, honestly...
Please don't put your interpretation in quote to make it look like those are my words; they are not. Why is AP or any guild worthy of holding an outpost? Because they fought off challenges. That's what they are designed for.
If you dont like people being upset with you then maybe you shouldn't try and take their stuff?
It's only their stuff because they are willing to defend it. That's the nature of this part of the game. It's not just an accident side-effect of the outpost feature; it's their purpose.
