In memory of Viccia Chialdo

Post by vguerin »

For Viccia...

This fall we suffered a tragedy in Yrkanis, some of us lost in our faction conflicts let our warrior spirit forget where we came from. The homins of Atys were all fixated on doing what they could to better themselves, their guild or their faction. We lost site for a moment of what is important to us all... our children and the effect our wars have on them.

As a citizen of Matis, we forget the truly difficult times our forefathers went through to make our lives as fruitful as they are today. The lands of Atys provide a great bounty to us all, and the promises of higher power may seem within our reach.

What is power if we lose our focus, we lose our most cherised things... What will we have left to offer future generations when we allow the jewels of our youth no safety from our conflicts ? The loss of ONE bright star may have awoken us to be more prepared, but it does not honor the ideas brought forth when we felt this tragedy in our hearts.

I have no children, my devout service to Jena has kept me preoccupied... This does not excuse me from remembering when my dear twin brother (Vicci Girin) was killed by a gingo ages ago, when my father (Viccio Girin) looked away for but a moment. He had spotted a prime small pearl near the Den of Fury in the Fleeting Gardens that he had wanted for my mother (Viccia Girin). Skoff surely didn't intend to set me on this path to Jena, but watching the despair of my parents after losing my brother hardened me. I hid this tragedy for many years by focusing my anger into my service of the Goddess Jena. Dying in her grace would be a small price for helping me forget the death of my dear brother.

War is harsh, and there will always be victims... but those of us that have chosen a life of battle can expect our losses. The loss of a child, that always brought a chuckle to us seemingly hard warriors when we visited Yrkanis, was a shock to us all. The death of Viccia Chialdo brought to light for me how precious life is, especially the life an innocent. I do not intend to allow this child that may have died to something I was a part of, pass without a proper sendoff.

A memorial will be held, not for the death of this shining young child, but for the possiblities of life she may have given to us all. We ask that all in attendance meet us in the Yrkanis cemetary on Saturday (8 GMT/3 EST). We ask those attendng to please come in the proper gear for such a service. Those in mourning and remembrace will not attend this gala prepared for combat. The Samsara, neutrals in the faction conflict will provide a defense if needed... Viccia belonged to no faction and we will be remembering a lost homin.

We have asked Chico Trivaldo, the barkeep in Yrkanis, to allow anyone in that is unarmed. We sincerely hope that we can keep the topics oriented to the memory of Viccia and youth that will determine our future as well as things to come. It has been a long time since the homins of Atys have been able to get together, let make this memorial a festive event that brings us all closer to where we once were.

All homins are invited to attend in the spirit of the goodwill it is intended to renew.

*a moment for Viccia before i begin*

..

The events that led up to this tragic moment have been horrifying and hard on the Citizens of Yrkanis. It is unfortunate that yet again an innocent life must be lost before we can come together peacefully under one roof, however let the young homin's death be a lesson to us all, and may we all follow the lesson we have to learn from her life.

I have never met young Viccia, but in my recent days spent consoling those that have - I've learned that the young homin's life was full of joy and happiness. Never did she worry about the political struggles that have been undermining the world around her. Never did she think that the day that would end her happiness be at the end of a blade, wielded by another homin.

Let us now remember who our true enemies are, the Kitin, not our brethren Homin. Let us now all come, peacfully, and give Honor to young Viccia, Jena bless her soul.

OOC:: i wont be able to make the event, i hope that it turns out well. Best wishes to u all ::COO

The memorial for Viccia was interrupted by militants from the Kami faction. We wanted all homins to come in peace but the wardrums rang too strong for some of the Kamists. We will have a memorial of a smaller nature to honor this fallen soul in private.
